LI Ao was a great philosopher who influenced by Han Yu's Moral Pedigree, andregarded the Confusion heritage transmitting as his life responsibility; he perceived thecultural crisis which caused by the impact of flourishing Buddhism and Taoism toConfucian, from the crisis, he studied the Confucianism and the Confucianismdeveloping history thoroughly. He found that the traditional Confucianism paid a lot ofattention on Commentaries exegesis and the relationship between Man and Heavensince the Han Dynasty, this trend caused the lack of consciousness on the function ofthe traditional Confucianism which should accomplished in the whole life, and thusunderestimate the inherent Theory of Mind which is closely related to and content in thesame accomplishment of life in Confucianism, because of the limitation, theConfucianism faced the danger of assimilation by Buddhism and Taoism, Particularlyby Buddhism which was very good at mind studying. For the culture crisis sense andthe defending responsibility and mission for the Moral Pedigree in traditionalConfucianism, LI Ao built the book of "Refolding Book".Based on the thoroughly study on the book of "Zhong Yong", LI Ao firstly dug themental thinking in Zhong Yong, and thus to interpret the Confucian classics and theunderstanding of Confucianism, emphasis on the inheritance and development ofConfucian Theory of Human Nature, and then adopted a philosophy system whichtreated "Cheng" as its core concept. By the way, the system absorbs conception ofBuddhism Taoism and Taoist thought. Also, we can call the philosophy system refolding,which including the ontology of "Heaven and sincerity", the goodness of "feeling goodand poor, free poor", the concept of temperament which is "a matter of course born, bylove to","Sincerity" which is the extension of knowledge, the "Aspire to the moralvalues" and "the original anti-end" conception of death six areas. And the theory expanded on the necessity, fundamental approach and purpose for refolding. And heargued based on the ontological view of "Heaven Sincere", and then established anature-based one, goodness love evil and the theory of human nature, according to thetheory, he pointed out that the evil is born due to heart lust, evil person is due to lust,this evil feeling covering the person's good nature, so the goodness can not show;therefore, it is necessary to refold. And then, LI Ao demonstrated the methods of how torefold, he said thinking without taking into account and moving without moving meanrefolding, and heart back to the realm of Cheng Ming, act back to goodness, this is theonly correct way which find refolding.LI Ao and his "Refolding Book" not only firstly opened the Neo-Confucianismwhich considered human nature as the ideological core concept, this owed to hisattaching importance on the mind question and his original research; but also, he createdthe precedent of the school of moral principles of academic forms of Neo-Confucianismwhich caused by his academic practice that integrated Confucianism, Buddhism andDaoism; at third, he also built the thought basic of a Theory of Human Nature of whichwas Neo-Confucianism of "Mind lead temper" by his human nature thoery of whichwas "One Mind with Two Doors". Sum up, LI Ao's "Refolding Book" and his theoryhad a very important position which turned classical Confucianism into LIConfucianism, we can treat LI Ao's refolding thought as the mid-term between classicalConfucianism and LI Confucianism.
