When it comes to "searching for roots",A Cheng seems to have become a symbol,and this achievement at its peak,eliminates the multiple meanings like turning a blind eye.As we all know,the related research of A Cheng almost came to a climax with the appearance of Chess King,and has been continued until this day.However,with the exception of Yang Xiao's monograph on A Cheng,most of them are critic articles and master's theses.So far,no doctoral research papers have been written on A Cheng.Through sorting out the previous research literature,we can clearly find that the scholars' research on the creations of A Cheng has obvious limitations,there are many gaps and deficiencies.For example,the limitations of the research materials: most of them focus on the early novels,while ignoring the later film and television scripts,artistic seminars,academic works,etc.such as the ancient modeling studies "Luo Shu He Tu" and "Five Tan Yao Cave".In addition,from the late 1970 s to the early 1980 s,A Cheng published scattered articles in periodicals and magazines,such as a film and television review "Life Ideal and Aesthetic Ideal",which I think is very important for the research of his creations.The limitation of research literature leads to the misreading of the author's ideas.Therefore,this paper will undertake the mission of further completing a three-dimensional research on A Cheng.Taking existing A Cheng's literary works and interviews as a base,supplementing his work published in the early eighty's,combing through previous research,linking experiences,thoughts,words,making connections to constructs the writer's creative,heritage,historical and cultural characteristics.A Cheng can be analyzed by his involvement in art,music,and films,witnessing the vast literacy,and through the investigation of his literary thoughts,one can see his fixation on tradition,he aims to protect cultural diversity,to create freedom for culture to develop naturally,for the purpose of studying A Cheng systematically and comprehensively.In addition to the introduction and conclusion,this paper is further divided into four chapters.The first chapter aims to explore the cultural concept of A Cheng and make a longitudinal historical combing of his works.Through analyzing the life track and experiences of A Cheng,from his family background,to the knowledge structure he learned during his growth,from the experience of his youth years to his life in the United States,the formation of A Cheng's cultural thoughts is shown,and his works with culture as the baseline theme is understood.At the same time,through the analysis of A Cheng and "Root-searching literature" entanglements,explains the psychological mechanism of A Cheng's works: he argued culture "Root Searching",in the context of history is the ideal to actually change reality,with the value of guarding cultural diversity,compared with other roots writers,his intrinsic cultural spirit is worth digging into.From the cultural view of A Cheng reflecting reality,we have reasons to deny that Chess King is a work of Taoist culture.Reflecting on his creation view,it is clear the "naturalism" creation characteristics which has been neglected for a long time exists within.The second chapter mainly expounds the connection and transformation between his literary works with art,music and film,which follows a common pattern in different art form.A Cheng transforms perception,brushwork and aesthetic connotation of fine arts into the expressive tools of language in his novels.Through four-word combination,punctuation marks,pauses and other techniques to build a strong rhythm,through repetition,overlaps,antithesis techniques to show poetic melody;And montage in films to narrate,using picture and sound combinations in the technique of writing,so that the text has rich and diverse artistic characteristics.The main content of chapter three is using explanatory analysis on the artistic features of the novel,the new notes style,the "ancient" language style,poetic narratives,at the same time,recap on traditional literature paradigm to explain his creation is to deepen the "Chinese characteristics" in world literature.The fourth chapter makes an in-depth analysis on the discourse of A Cheng's literary theory thus far,and discusses the "freedom concept" which he always seem to hang onto--freedom of restriction and freedom of sympathy,as Confucius once said,"following one's insolence without exceeding the rules" and the freedom of "the benevolent".At the same time,understanding A Cheng's enthusiasm for "Shaman" culture has become an important source of his cognitive theory on art,literature and even traditional culture genealogy.This paper tries to explain the "conscious internalization" of the diverse culture exists in A Cheng: tracing the roots of tradition,emphasizing the difference of knowledge structure,and even the salvage of the gradually lost original Confucian culture and shaman culture,which all proves the search for gradually disappearing culture,which runs through the internal logic of his thoughts.
