Human right is a modern concept, which refers to "the basic rights to which one is and should be entitled as a human". Human right, as a concept, is the product of modern Western civilization. However, that doesn't mean lack of concern with it or relevant concepts in Chinese culture, though it isn't clearly defined in Chinese culture, of which Chinese poetics contains rich thought resources of human right worth discovering. As for this, the paper aims to explore the thought resources of human right to life in Chinese poetics and attempts to study these resources contained in traditional civilization but with great modern value, which is an important part of modern civilization. In the introduction of the paper, it is a brief description of the research present situation and research significance with certain introduction of the conceptual definition of "human right" and "right to life". It is known that life is a basic human right which is objective and compulsory and it is closely related to the development of human civilization. Based on this basic standpoint, Chapter one analyzes the influence which Preface to Book of Odes has on the continuous caring for people's right to life in Chinese poetics. By the virtue of refinement and theorization of Preface to Book of Odes, The Book of Songs reflects the people's livelihood and becomes a spiritual tradition which cares for the people's right to life. Then the paper discusses the two important aspects of the theme:right to live and right to make a living. Chapter two focuses on the right to live, defined as inalienable right to live. Chinese culture attaches great importance to "life", for instance, in Chinese poetics there are serious criticisms about people sacrifice and life-threatening wars, which can be a clear proof of respecting people's life."The Great Wall" as an image is an individual case that has enormous quantities of thought resources of human right to life, also worth researching. Thus further exploring of "advocating harmony"political reason consciousness and "advocating righteousness" cultural spirit, which play an important role in maintaining the right to live is needed. Chapter three focuses on the right to make a living, which refers to "the right to satisfy the necessity of living", whose core is to guarantee people live a life as a human. For this, food and clothing, shelter and happiness——these basic life requirements must be given proper protection and sex is also essential to life, which Chinese poetics gives enough understanding and respect.Chinese poetics care for people's right to life and call for its seriousness and necessity, which has a profound influence on maintaining social moral conscience and educating the ruling class in the traditional society; to some extent it asylums the livelihood of the people. This also enlightens us that human right plays an important role in maintaining a civilized social life.
