William Yip抯 Comparative Poetics affirms the paradigm of mode--differency, which can be effectively illustrated both from the historical and logical point of view. We discovered that William Yip抯 mode--differency is closely related to three factors: 1. the Nativition Movement in Taiwan Island, 2. the disciplinary knowledge of Comparative Literature and Intercultural Study, 3. the philosophical resources; by which differency is found to be the basic concept, whlist similarity, localization, recognition, domain of discourse and mode of discourse the subsidiary within the disciplinary theory of Comparative Poetics. In the following text, we will, firstly, expose the vavancy and misplacement of the consciousness for tradition, by Yip抯 saying, in modern Chinese and Western Culture, Literature, and Poetics, through the way of empirical study; and secondly, deconstruct the identity fallacy of the Common Poetics?absolutism, while construct differency as the core of Comparative Study by the instrument of Taoist negative grammar from antient China and post-Wittgenstein抯 non-essentialism from the modern West. Whereas both of them provide differency with a powerful evidence on neo-evolutionism in cultural ecology and cultural anthropology. As a consequence, mode--differency will then lead different Poetics to somehow Taoist mode other than Confucianist抯 or the Western抯, which can also serve as a new route-sign for intercultural transmission. Thus the practical aim of William Yip抯 Comparative Poetics: Whatever differences among Cultures, Literatures and Poetics might carry forward the course and forge ahead to the future with Taoist aesthetic ideals.
