In the Taikang times of the early Jin dynasty, Fu Xuan, Zhang Hua, Zhang Zai, Zhang Xie, Lu Ji, Lu Yun, Pan Yue, Pan Ni, Zuo Si and Zhi Yu were all the important writers. Because of the cultural influence of that period, the personality of the men of letters of the early Jin dynasty often played to the score.Fu Xuan often gave his attention to the types of literature. Lu Ji established his quite comprehensive and systemic literary theory, and put up his strong literary spirit as art for art sake. In the side of appreciation and creation, Lu Yun maintained that literature should be in an elegant and concise style. Zuo Si always wrote realistically, and he resolutely opposed the fabricated style of writing. The types and style of the Taikang literature had three characteristics. Firstly, the theme of the Taikang literature seems very sentimental, and it has poor enthusiasm and poor power. The poetic spirit, namely the spirit of expressing one emotion, was very obvious. This phenomenon factually reflected the features of that period when people believed that literature was created by emotions, affections, feelings, sentiments, and so on. Secondly, it had become the regular practice in the Taikang period to model literary types and styles on those of the ancients. Of course, many of the Taikang writers had expected to surpass the ancients. Thirdly, the Taikang writers were mostly in pursuit of gorgeous and fine style of writing. For Taikang literature, it was the main and great tide, and certainly, it was common practice in writers. It had abruptly appeared the literary resurgence in the Taikang times of the early Jin dynasty. Why? Generally speak, two factors account for the resurgence. Firstly, this literary resurgence was a result of the law of the development of aesthetics and the historical current of literary self-knowledge. Secondly, the men of letters of the early un dynasty were mostly realists in life. Most of them had produced literary works just for the sake of showing off their erudition and talent. And just about this factor, the epoch-making literary spirit had been inspired. There are many academically doubtful issues in the sphere of the research of Taikang literature, because a lot of related historical documents have lost. For instance, what is the name of the father of Zhang Zai, Zhang Xie and Zhang Kang? Is it Zhang Mu or Zhang Shou? When did Lu Ji come into the capital Luoyang of early Jin dynasty? How many times did he come into Luoyang? In which year had he written the article WenFu, the year when he was 20, or 29, or 40? In which year on earth had Zuo Si wntten the article SanD uFu? Such issues are too numerous to mention. Now, we have reached new convictive conclusions on some of them.
