Studies On Annotation And Explanation Of Xiaojing

Based on the brief review of studies on Xiaojing before Tang Dynasty, centers on Annotation and Explanation on Xiaojing which was annotated by Tangxuanzhong and explained by Yuanxingchong & xingbing. It's the most important work on history of studies on Xiaojing. The artical studies Xiaojing's characters, annotation and explanation through comparison of several literatures and using classical decomposition method. So we can have a profound understand about this work.The artical consists of four chapters. The first chapter simply introduces Xiaojing and its history of research before Annotation and Explanation on Xiaojing appears. Studies on Xiaojing develop from its appearance in Han Dynasty to flourishing in Southen & Northern dynasty. This flourishing is Sufficient and necessary condition to unite the argumentation of Xiaojing. After uniting the whole country, for instructing all people by filial piety, Tangxuanzhng lead and manage the whole annotation and explanation work about Xiaojing.The second chapter studies Xuanzhong's adjustion to character of Xiaojing. Xuanzhong's action is different from scholar. His aim is unite and popularize filial piety, not to simply resume the original appearance of Xiaojing. So the first standard is to make the content of Xiaojing fit to reality need. But after this, Xuanzhong's adjustion to character of Xiaojing is serious and detailed. All that charasters are choosed have foundation of literature, but only one character was deleted because of better popularizing of filia piety. Then studying with Kaiyuan Annotation's content, we find that the work of character's adjustion isn't finished in one time. Xuanzhong's Annotation has two version. One is done in Kaiyuan epoch, and another one is done in Tianbao epoch. His adjust work continues from Kaiyuan epoch to Tianbao epoch.The third chapter researches on Tangxuanzhong's Annotation of Xiaojing. For comparation accurately the two Annotation, we first research on the version of firstmAnnotation which is the only version which we can see today. The two Annotation have not any different in content. So the Tianbao Annotation's amend and correct to Kaiyuan Annotation is for to explain content of Xiaojing more accurately, and make character more brief and to the point, so make Annotation have academic nature and popularization nature at the same time. The main speciality of Xuanzhong's Annotation is using old annotation largely. The pattern of using old annofation mainly is amending and correcting old annotation alittle, not to using it directly. Comparing with Zheng's Annotation and Kong's Annotation, we find that Xuanzhong give them same attention. It's not like we general think that Xuanzhong's more like zheng's Annotation than Kong's one. Xuanzhong use Zheng's Annotation mainly because it's brief and to the point. He often use Kong's Annotation because it's more better in explaining argumentation. But Kong's Annotation is too heavy and complicated in manner of style. So Xuanzhong often use Kong's literary content. Compare three Annotation, Xuanzhong's Annotation appear three characteristic. First, it exclude trivial explanation, textual criticism and elaborate on argumentation. On the contrary, it laies stress on style's brief and to the point. Second, Xuanzhong's Annotation doesn't stick to school. On the contrary, it learns widely from all other all annotations strong points. Third, the Annotation carry on the idea of "rule country by filial piety".The fourth part of the artical researches on Explanation on Xuanzhong's Annotation. Writing the Explanation spent about three hundred years. It makes three versions: Yuanxingchong's Explanation in Kaiyuan epoch, Explanation in Tianbao epoch, Xingbing's final Explanation. The explanation of Annotation and Explanation on Xiaojing is finished through adjusting Yuanxingchong's Kaiyuan explanation.
