In the contemporary twenty first century, studies on female literature have become a well-known research area. A large amount of thesis and monographs from various perspectives and points of view have emerged, among which the femalism theory has become the major theoretical thoughts as well as the structural basis. It has become a typical pattern to look back and reassess the modern Chinese female literature and female writers by the criteria of femalism, which came into being in the late twentieth Century. However, this dissertation does not apply this pattern. Instead, it chooses feminism rationality as a breakthrough to bring the perspective back into the source of Chinese female literature and then flows with its development from the source to strive restoring the objectivity and the reality in history and to understand at the biggest extent the historical revelation. Femalism, as a significant theoretical resource composing feminism rationality in a specific period of history, will also be discussed in appropriate parts of this dissertation.Chapter OneModern Rationality And The Change of Principal Feminism Consciousness After defining the concepts used in this dissertation such as "tool", "feminism rationality" and the research topic "modem Chinese literature", this dissertation will analyze the following topics: two circulations over nearly one century on feminism rationality change; some female literature works that are different from the principal feminism rationality while maintaining an independence and profundity. During the course of writing by the female writers, the contradictions of modern rationality and traditional rationality, feminism consciousness and female consciousness have existed all the time. The subtle contradictions formed a type of tensile force has provided an access for us to sense the hardness and price of female liberation progress, and enabled us to obtain clearer information and message left behind by history. The following chapters of this dissertation will carry out a specific discussion in details on the contradictions in three different areas, which are, respectively, theme, image and narration.Chapter Two:The Rich Implication In the World of Female Literature (Part I)This chapter and the following chapter will take diversified themes concluded from different literature works and unveil the conflicts between traditional rationality and modem rationality as well as the complicated relationship between feminism rationality and female consciousness.I. The Theme of LoveFrom the spiritual love that is full of holy, abstinent and moral colours started in the early days of the last century, to the material, lustful and vague love started at the beginning of this new century, love, as the most significant theme of female literature, has experienced constant changes in its content and status over the period of nearly one century.II. Maternity and The Mother Daughter RelationshipThis theme is reflected into two extremities. One is extremely adoration and the other is extremely criticism. The complicated, profound and entangling mother daughter relationship has implied the deep conflicts between the tradition rationality and modern rationalities as well as between feminism consciousness and female consciousness.III. Affection of The Same SexDue to the differences of the feminism rationalities, the affection of the same sex varied in different times. The affection of the same sex in the "Fourth of May" period was a result of the attitudes of pessimism, panic or antinomy to the love of the opposite sex. While the affection of the same sex since late 1980s is initiative and it is a breakthrough to the male hegemony, as well as a new establishment of the female relationship.Chapter ThreeThe Rich Implication in The World of Female Literature (Part n) I.
