The Study Of One Noun Being Collocated Respectively With Different Measure Words In Modern Chinese

Yi ming duo liang,such as "yi zhi qiang,yi gen qiang,yi gan qiang"refers to the phenomenon that one noun can be collocated with several different measure words,which in this thesis means individual measure word.This phenomenon is so common in modern Chinese that the statistics of the "the collocative table of nouns and measure words"& the "the table of nouns" respectively in "The eight hundred words in modern Chinese "(compiled chiefly by Lu Shuxiang) & "The dictionary of explain detailed of grammar in modern Chinese"(compiled by yu Shiwen) show that three nouns in ten can agree with the phenomenon mentioned above.Researching into this phenomenon can reveal the internal regularity of the individual measure words and expound the selective prerequisites for the collection of one noun with several defferent measure words,which can help & guide the application & teaching(especially in teaching Chinese as a forgeign language) of measure words.In this thesis,researched nouns & measure words originate chiefly from "the collocative table of nouns and measure words" & "the table of nouns" & the texts cover spoken & written language materials in contemporary & modern society,& the study methods are combined statically & dynamically,synchronically & diachronically,individually & generally.Consequently,the multilayered & multifaceted studies of yi ming duo liang can the be carried out systematically.In the beginning,this thesis classifies duo liang in yi ming duo liang ,which is the static analysis,& the classification is conduted in such two aspects:the amount & the semantic structure of duo liang.Regarding the amount of duo liang,the phenomenon of yi ming er liang has the absolute priority accounting for over 65%,yi ming san liang,which is very common,accounting for 31.2%,while yi ming si liang or yi ming wu liang even more is comparatively rare.Concerning the semantic structure of duo liang,there arecombination of both the same semantic type & the different semantic type ,which, meanwhile can be subdivided further.Through these classifications,we can have a basis & overall understanding of yi ming duo liang.Noun'selection of duo liang,which is carried on from a dynamic angle,is the main content of researching into yi ming duo liang,& the selection is mainly restrained by yi ming yi yi ,yi ming yi ti ,yi ming yi xing.Yi ming yi yi means that the same noun has different set of meanings that make differences in selecting the measure words.Yi ming yi ti refers to such a fact that the same noun is in the different styles,which is one of the reasons for the noun's varied selection of measure words.Yi ming yi xing indicates that the same noun has different reference to object's external form that results in the varied selection of measure words.Generally noun selects the measure words that are normative & limited.However,in order to express better the regularity can be breken away,that is the rhetoric & expansion of measure words or expansion of duo liang .The expansive measure words originate from both internal loan & external loan.The former means mutual loan amony the measure words,that is:the measure word collocated with one noun is borrowed from anther noun's collocation;the latter means that the measure word collocated with one noun is borrowed temporarily from nouns,verbs or adjectives.Through measure words,the purpose of expansion of duo liang is nature transforming & shape borrowing,both of which can give a new aesthetic impression & attain a vivid& figurative'effect when expressive.Nature transforming means that the characteristics of one thing are transformed to another thing with medium of measure words, & shape borrowing means semantic features of measure words are directly used to the modified nouns.Normalization of the measure words is one aspect of linguistic normalization.So far as yi ming duo liang is concerned,duo liangshould be considered as a muster that is stable & normal.However,analyses of "the collocative table of nouns and measure words" & "the table of nouns" show that owing to su...
