The fact that the Chinese culture is confronted with actual challenges increasingly necessitates the research into the cultural-psychological structure of the Han nationality and the retrospection of the self-consciousness of the Han nationality. We are required to review and redefine the classics to avail ourselves of the intelligence of our ancestors. The Confucious School represented by Xunzi is especially insight-provoking, and hence I choose to study it as my doctoral dissertation.A sound mastery of Xunzi's thoughts comprises of three aspects. The first is his theory of an Evil Human Nature. After summing up his ideas in this field I stick to the proposition of Huaxingqiwei, arguing that his theory is to profile the acquired human nature of Wei (hypocricy). Then comes his theory of Rite. Undoubtedly, the theory of Rite is the neucleus of Xunzi's ideologies, according to whom, Rite is an almighty solution to all social problems. Accordingly, the ontological nature of Rite is strengthened. It is on this basis that Lifahuyong, Wangbabinyong are raised, and the ultimate state of Rufahuyong takes shape, exerting far-reaching political and cultural impact on the Chinese culture. The third aspect is the interrelationship between Nature and Man. After making a preliminary analysis and definition of this thesis, I manage to cultivate its inner structure in a more direct and more significant way in the perspective of Shaman and History. It is my viewpoint that the Harmony between Nature and Man is a concentrated realization of Pre-Qin rationality. On the basis of the above analyis of the three aspects of Xunzi's thought, conclusive remarks are made in Chapter 4. A comparison is made between Confucius, Mencius and Xunzi, ensuing is a review of the Confucious theory of the Combination of Benevolence and Rite. My conclusion is that the approach of laying equal stress on Mencius and Xunzi and holistically inheriting the ideologies of Confucius can guarantee a more profound understanding of Chinese philosophy, and it is in such a process that we can have a better knowledge and grasp of the attribtes and significance of Xunzi's theories.
