Human nature is the core elements of Chinese philosophy. In intellectual history, Mencius and Xunzi's theory of human nature is good or evil has been affecting deeply. Although Mencius and Xunzi's theory of human nature is ambiguity, the real logic lies in both antagonistic and complementary relationship between the development of Chinese thought for future generations far-reaching.When Mencius was talking about the theory of "humanity", he said it just born with a certain property. Mencius believed that those who could not learn but know, which is conscience. Who do not consider with knowledge, which is intuitive ability. From these two areas, Mencius demonstrated the reason and reasoning of human why nature is good.Xunzi distinguished the human physiological nature from social morality. In his opinion, morality related to the individual's own safety, even the country's life and death. Xunzi thought "propriety" is the standard of self-cultivation and the best way. Xunzi considered human nature is evil, and only through self-cultivation which could be changed. Therefore, Xunzi proposed that it was very important for people to develop good moral character and best way of self-cultivation was to set strict demands on ourselves, to follow the requirements of ceremony, to get instruction from mentors. While there are serious differences in the beginning of human nature and the specific issue of"humanity good or evil"between the two thinkers, Xunzi and Mencius's attitude was the same in terms of the purpose and outcome of human nature.
