An Intensional Logic Based Semantic Study On Chinese Connectors And Correlative Constructions

The semantic study of connectors is the focus of Linguistics, Logic and Computational Linguistics. It is very important to Natural Language Understanding. This essay comes from the study of Semantic interpreting system of Chinese Intensional Logic. First, we withdraw abstract thesaurus of polysemous words or homonymy; then study disjunction of abstract thesaurus, and conjunction of abstract thesaurus and situation parameter for word senses in real situation. On this basis, the logic meaning of connectors and correlative constructions was described, so as to offer strategies for analyzing semantics and constructing framework of semantic knowledge for Machine Translation (MT).Chapter 1 A Survey of Researches First, a definition to connectors in logic was given and then the scope of this study was defined. Second, the present research condition in the realm related such as Linguistics, Logic and Computational Linguistics was introduced, and also fruits of these studies. Finally, this chapter points out that the traditional study methods and system on Chinese connectors can not meet with the requests of Chinese Information Processing, then it brings forth some resolution strategies which are based on Intensional Logic (IL) and Abstract Thesaurus Theory.Chapter 2 A Reconstruction System of Logic Meaning of Connectors. First, this essay gives a survey of different former studies, and brings up the necessity to a new study of Converse Sentence. Then it distinguishes the concept"Converse"with some related concepts, such as sequence connect, reverse connect; negates ; opposites converse; Concede Condition; the contain of converse. It renews the definition the scope of converse sentence. Finally, it establishes and reconstructs the system of logic framework and fixed position.Chapter 3 A Survey for Abstract Thesaurus First, it gives a definition of theories basis for Abstract Thesaurus Theories. Then it discusses the property and the definition of abstract thesaurus, pointing out that abstract thesaurus is the core sememes of a polysemous word or homonymy. It also investigates the withdrawing method of Abstract Thesaurus, in order to establish the Chinese language connectors and construction semantics explaining model, making analyzing connectors meaning more maneuverability.Chapter 4 Studies on Semantic Meaning of "he (和)", "gen (跟 )" To study this, the researcher combined the theory of "Add to Match" of Chinese Linguistics with Generalized Quantifier Theory (GQ). Take Chinese "he" and " gen" as an example, the researcher studied collective reading or distributive reading of co-ordinated NP , distinguishing the Abstract Thesaurus theory, and logic meaning of "he", "gen ". The author also proceeds comparison "he" "gen" with English words and and with, so as to provide the linguistics support to Machine Translation.Chapter 5 Studies on Semantic Meaning of"bing ( 并)", "you (又 )", "ye (也 )" This chapter s tudies the words which have the function of enhancing tone " bing ", "you ", "ye" in discourse. They all have the uniformity with connectors" bing", "you", "ye" on the logical meaning. On these grounds, the researcher brings up some strategies of handling some problems in Chinese Information Processing such as the word"bingfei ( 并非 )"in the parsing.Chapter 6 Studies on Semantic Meaning of "hai ( 还) " This chapter withdraws two core sememes of hai" from its primary meaning . Then it studies the disjunction of these two core sememes[+ add ][+ reverse ], and the conjunction of abstract thesaurus and situation parameters. Based on this foundation, we also compare hdi with "geng (更)" "you (又)", "zai (再)", trying to construct the model of distinguishing synonyms.
