The paper treats the translation and introduction of foreign literature by Tian Han as an integrity, and from this point of view, it studies the topics as the defining of ideas, fruits of translation, practice and influence, and the unique view of dramatic aesthetics, with the help of approaches and theories of comparative literature, translation and communication. Through the study of above topics, the paper tries to explore Tian Han's influence in the field of translation on the formation of modern Chinese drama, and also his valuable experiences so as to provide the contemporary dramatic translation and artistic practice with lessons and reference . In accordance with the above study methods, the paper is divided into four chapters. The first chapter analyzes the growing background of Tian Han's translation and introduction of foreign literature, and its practical experiment .by the study of Tian Han's personal growth and time trends, we come to know the forming process of his translation and introduction; by the method of calculating and classification, the paper tries to get a general understanding of Tian Han's total dramatic translation and also explore the rich and complete inside of Tian's multi-cultural influence from the west . The second chapter explores the decisive elements of Tian's dramatic translation upon his dramatic aesthetic thought and the influence on Tian's dramatic creation and practice .in this chapter, the approaches like analytic methods of translation and communication, effective methods of comparative literature, are useful to analyze the foreign elements he learned, and his creative development in his works and experiment. The third chapter mainly studies the artistic features and its establishment of Tian's works. The paper tries to describe Tian's absorption of foreign culture, his inheritance of Chinese traditional spirit and his application in the dramatic creation. The fourth chapter can be regarded as a case study. Through the comparative study of Tian Han and Oscar Wilde, we try to grasp the reasonable and complicated elements of modernist influence in Tian's works, so as to understand his positive contributions towards the modern Chinese drama and its development. In the final section, the paper concludes, from the objective point of view, the lessons and confines of Tian Han's exploration in the field of translation and introduction of foreign literature so that a valuable reference could be provided for the dramatic translation and practice of the new century. |
