What does the value tropism of art education mean? It is the affirmation, choice and emphasis of the functions of art education.The research method and purpose of this dissertation lie in: Seeking certain rules that may define the structure of the value tropism of art education through the reminiscence, analysis, and sum-up of former experience and information, so as to discover some necessary facts to serve as reference and basis for the practical work promoting reform and establishing the value tropism of art education of our times.Through this study, we have concluded two specific rules as follow:Firstly, the pass-on of artistry is the premise and predominant condition needed to establish the value tropism of art education.Secondly, during the developing process of art education, on the basis of the pass-on of artistry, three traditions of the value tropism have formed—culture and nurturing commonness, exhibition and developing characteristic, living-making and realizing interests.Basing on the above mentioned rules, we explore the status quo of the value tropism in our art education sphere. One truth discovered is—how to obtain and maintain a certain equilibrium among the three traditions relating to the value tropism is one major problem and contrary existing in the art education sphere of our country.This dissertation provides a solution — "the active Doctrine of Mean" ,which emphasizes that "Practice is the sole criterion of truth" and implements the spirit of criticism and self-criticism.
