According to the relative linguistic theories and research methods, including the theory of categorized prototype markedness and grammaticalization, this dissertation investigates 16 items separately on 700 monosyllabic adjective lexical items, as follows: this monosyllabic adjective can be modified by the intensifiers and the negative adverbs, be reduplicated, be followed by the auxiliary. the objective the complement, the construct imperatives the evaluative sentences . the interrogatives the comparative sentences, act as the subject the object the attributive the predicate the adverbial the complement etc. consequently a series of relative data is found. We did some contrastive analysis on the form and the meaning of relative topics in course of investigating the grammatical feature of the above items, furthermore explained some linguistic phenomenon. The aim of this dissertation is to do the prototypical research on the monosyllabic adjective. The most basic plan is to investigate these monosyllabic adjectives among which are the typical ones and the non-typical ones, viz. to check if it is homogeneous inside the monosyllabic adjective, and to which degree it is unanimous on the syntactic features. In order to fulfill this object, the dissertation constructs a monosyllabic adjective prototypical feature category mode constituted by three hierarchical sequences on the basis of investigating and analysis. In this mode, the three levels attend to the syntagmatic function of one word-class the constructive function of definite pragmatic sentence and the function to serve as sentence elements, and all the feature items on each level are arranged into one sequence according to the prototypical degree(high or low). As a result, this mode guarantees the comprehensive embodiment of the word-class features, as well as embodies each feature of different levels which they should have. This dissertation using this mode and its usage rules classified the monosyllabic adjective lexical items prototypically, and got the satisfactory result.Combined with the exploration on monosyllabic adjectives, the dissertation discusses some linguistic phenomenon and controversial questions. For example: (1)In the course of exploration on these monosyllabic adjectives, it not only get 155 reduplicated lexical items by testing, analyses the syntactic and semantic features of these lexical items, but also combined with the whole Chinese reduplicative phenomenon, analyses the characteristic of the reduplicative forms (including monosyllabic adjective reduplicative forms), the form and meaningand the syntactic functions of monosyllabic adjective reduplicative forms from the perspective of realistic motivation, posits and discusses the continuum phenomenon of Chinese reduplication, cast the doubt on the idea that the reduplicative form can 'express large quantity and small quantity', and explains some other relative phenomenon from cognitive perspective and markedness theory. (2)It gives a detailed description of ten positive and negative imperative sentences consist of monosyllabic adjectives, analyses some relative grammatical phenomenon and the grammatical degree of positive and negative imperative sentences. It finds out that, the lexical items bear [+positive controllable] feature can enter positive imperative sentences, and those bear [+negative controllable] feature can enter negative imperative sentences. The negative imperative sentences have a wide distributional range and the high using frequency, which are the unmarkedness usage of monosyllabic adjective imperative sentences, while those positive ones are the markedness usage. It also explains 'marking reversals' in the imperative sentences composed of monosyllabic adjective. (3)It analyses and generalizes the characteristics of subjective evaluative sentences "tai+A+le" constituted by the monosyllabic adjective, furthermore explores the inner and the outer motivations which shape this syntactic form from the point of view of the grammatical meaning of the monosyllabic adjectiv...
