A History Of The Development Mode With The Double-Core And Triple-Community

Based on the research of the urban development of Macao, this dissertation researches the urban developing regular pattern of Macao through three directions: the Macao economic structure, urban manage and design, and conclude the Development mode with the Double Core and Triple Community. That is which the Macao's urban development was restricted by two state powers. These two powers were the Chinese state power centered with Mongha Village in Northwest district of Macao and the Portuguese power centered with the Leal Senado in the Central of Macao. And so, the Macao City was divided into three different communities: the Portuguese Community, the Sino-Portuguese Mixed Community sited in the Inner Harbor, the Chinese Countryside Community.This development mode of Macao has a directive relationship with the role that Macao City undertook. The whole overall arrangement of Macao came to being for the suiting the need of the large trading industrial link between the oriental and western. This link was satisfaction of the political condition between both sides of the Chinese and Portuguese. And the function of the different community also provided the business and political security for the normal running of the Macao City.The urban development of Macao is a proceeding that two political core sought for the coordination and balance and three communities interacted. This formula was broke in 1849, and has an influence to the time being.The influence of this mode was reflected in the very fields, like the origin of the Macao City, the forming of the Politic frame, the community manages and development and the folklore live of Macao City.Drawing support from the Theory of "The Image of City" (Kevin Lynch) , this dissertation strives to hold the whole character of Macao City through the Macao's city image. Proceeding from this mode, it also discusses the fixing the position of the Macao urban manage, puts forward the view to the so-called Macao Spirit: the thoroughly near modern commercial spirit.
