The prosperity of the female initiation story is an important characteristic in the literature development in the 1990's, during which not only those already influential woman writers, but also many younger female writers began to write on the topic of the female's growth. The emergence of this phenomenon in the 1990's has a close relationship with multicultural language situation, owing to the 1990's economic transformation, the flowing of the western female thought and traditional writing's historic accumulation after the May 4th Movement.There are different ideas as regards the definition of the female initiation story. This paper clarifies the"Other-side Situation"and the reasons, making analysis into the comparison between the growth and the narration, reaching the conclusion upon this definition. The female initiation story often makes the physical and psychological immature females as their heroines, describing their growth under the influence of the resistance upon the father power trends, its value lies in the formation of subjectivity of themselves. Based on this definition, this paper deploys the Feminism theory, the theory of Subjectivity, the Existential theory, the Narrating Value theory, applying the ways of comparison, comparing them with the novels before 90's, probing into the female initiation story against the background of the 20th century, giving the complicated essence of them from the perspective of literature and culture.There are four chapters in this dissertation.From the perspective of female growth, Chapter 1 explores the myth in "house","Electra Complex"and the solution of maternal instinctive myth. The female initiation story in 90's mainly adopted a kind of"anti-family"way to describe things. In the novels people not only broke down the solemn patriarchal family, showing its irrationality, but also wrote thoroughly under the family shadow of this kind of"insecurity", female individual personality and female fine feelings towards life and displayed profound family influence on the female dramatically.
