which faithfully covered the living status, ideological concepts, emotions and psychology, daily life as well as the closely connected female subject construction of modern Chinese women in the 1990s. Conducting research into the female essays of the 1990s, it entails respecting and listening to their own voices, focusing on the discovery and clarification of individual life experiences of modern Chinese females and the spiritual development of the subject, thus further exploring the theoretical and practical significance of female essays under the frame of female subject construction.Drawing on experiences from the western subjectivity theory, feminist theory, contemporary-modern essay theory as well the theory linguistic philosophy, this paper, with the concept of female subjectivity running from the beginning to the end, views essays of the 1990s as an effective attempt by the Chinese females to conduct subject construction from a positive side. For the specific argumentation, the paper adopts an approach of"close reading"and starts from the theoretical vacancy of female essays to find out the emerging point of theories in the article and try to make a breakthrough in research thinking.The introduction deals with a description of the origin and present development of female essays of the 1990s and their current research situation. It also combs through and distinguishes some theoretical issues relating to this paper such as the definition of"female essays", female subjectivity and inter-subjectivity, the relations between female subject construction and the experiences and daily lives of females, thereafter laying the foundation for the whole presentation of the paper.The main body is divided into three chapters:The first chapter, Subject Construction in Public Fields of the Society, recognizes the width and depth the thinking horizons in female essays in response to the general perception that female essays have a tendency for being"narrow in horizons".
