The classical chivalric novel is one of the important types of Chinese classical novels, which has been paid important attention to in its value and impact by academics. After the 1980s, the study on the classical chivalric novels went deeply, and a large number of higher level study books and papers had emerged. It is a pity that the study on the evolution course of the classical chivalric novels has been neglected. Though several books about the history of chivalric novels had been published in the 1980s and 1990s of last century, but the study was often focused on the chivalric novels after the year 1911, the study on the classical chivalric novels was often alluded to. It can be said that the scarcity of studies on origin of chivalric novels leads to an inadequate trend of study on the classical chivalric novels. Therefore, the author explores the evolution of the chivalric novels from the ancient myths and the effects of other forms of literary works on the chivalric novels, and puts forward to that the history of the development of the chivalric novels made clear to the types and diverse trends of the evolution of chivalric novels. Thus the author argued that the chivalric novels are the literature product of public aesthetic victory.In the first chapter, the author explores the relationship between ancient myths and the origin of the chivalric novels. The author points that the chivalrous spirit in the chivalric novels originated from the original ethics of the ancient ancestors including the pioneers' spirits of sacrifice and brutal struggle in the natural environment and the praise for the "strength" and "gallant" based on considerations of survival, Which constitutes the earliest chivalrous spirit. Moreover, the creative style of the literary around the world in the ancient myth and romanticism had produced a far-reaching impact on the later chivalric novels.In the second and three chapters, the author analyzed the recorded scripts about the chivalric novels of pre-Qin thinkers and the historians in the West and East Han dynasties from the reality of literature in the Qin and Han dynasties. Thus the author thinks that the writings of literary creations had deeply influenced the Chinese classical chivalric novels.
