Noun is one of the fundamental parts of speech in Chinese and Uighur languages. There are various kinds of nouns, which are complex and important in grammatical position. Therefore, the contrastive study of nouns is of great significance, but it has not been attached ample importance up to now. In consideration of that, this paper makes an overall study on the grammatical aspects of nouns in Chinese and Uighur languages so as to deepen the understanding of the structural traits of both Chinese and Uighur languages.This paper consists of six parts in addition to the introduction. Chapter One is a contrastive analysis of reclassification of nouns in Chinese and Uighur. Chapter Two makes a contrastive study on the word-formation of nouns in the two languages. Next three chapters conducts a contrastive study from the point of syntax, semantics and pragmatics on the base of three stratum grammatical theory. Namely, Chapter Three is a contrastive analysis of syntactic features of the two languages. Chapter Four is a contrastive study of semantic characteristics of nouns in Chinese and Uighur. Chapter Five deals with the contrastive study on the pragmatic peculiarities of the two languages. Through the contrastive study of nouns in Chinese and Uighur on the five aspects mentioned above, this paper observes various traits of nouns in these two languages. Starting from the nominal point of view, this thesis reveals the general characteristics and differences between Chinese and Uighur languages. The last chapter makes a centralized contrastive study from the point of structural type on the base of previous five chapters and tries to explain the followings: Chinese and Uighur are languages belong to different typology. They have obvious divergences, but owing to the factors such as generality in the way of thinking and bilingual environment, the two languages have great deal of general characteristics in common .The structural traits of the two languages are not static, but dynamic which is on the process of development. The agglutinative component of Chinese and compound component of Uighur languages as well as the external language means are on the way of continual development.
