Biographies and articles on Ba Jin appear frequently on the history of contemporary Chinese literature but they are not comprehensive, systematic and detailed enough. This research focuses on investigating the influences of his works on the heritage and development of proses. The Introduction mainly discusses the history and the current state of the study on the works of Ba Jin., on how his works transcends personal conflicts and briefly discusses the methods, the value and the logical structure of this research. This essay deals with the influences of his works on the heritage and development of Chinese proses. It mainly bases on two work written in his later life "Thoughts" and "Afterthoughts" and with a profound and rational way of judgement. From the works of Ba Jin we can see that he inherited and developed the style of people from the past, including"Chun Qiu's technique of writing" , "Lu Xun's technique of writing" , "affection and reasonable"and"sublime words with deep meaning", those only recorded the historical facts without distorting them. And also deals with the relationship between his works on the heritage and development of foreign proses. It mainly discusses the deep influence of foreign proses on the wholeness, basics and endurance found in the works of Ba Jin.This essay selects some foreign works (proses) and analyzes them with "Thoughts" and "Afterthoughts", discussing how Ba Jin inherits from foreign literature.Finally here we talk about the abundance of the art of Foreign and Chinese proses (including those of Ba Jin), their complexity and subtle relationships. . Secondly we talk about the matter of overall and fundamental importance by influence of foreign philosophers and writers on Ba Jin's articles °In most cases it was the combination of outstanding foreign and Chinese philosophers and writers. According to foreign and Chinese traditions alike good proses should reflect facts, express true feelings and describe true people. This common tradition has a profound influence on Ba Jin. This tradition has been prevailing among the Chinese writers from Qu Qun to Lu Xun , and among the foreign writers from Rousseau to Maksim Gorky. Ba Jin inherited this good tradition. These writers dissect and perfect themselves morally. This is the common tradition of foreign figures like Rousseau, Herzen, Tolstoy and Chinese figures like Lu Xun.
