According to Social Comparison Theory which was brought up by Festinger in 1954, people all have the need or drive to evaluate one's ability and opinion. When the objective standard is not enough to evaluate oneself, to reduce the feeling of unsure, one may get the need of self evaluation through comparing with the others who are similar with them.Since Downward Social Comparison Theory which was put forwarded by Wills in 1981, many researchers were interested in Social Comparison area, but we are at the beginning for our Chinese. Social Comparison is a very flexible process; it can be investigated both in the normal conditions and in the controlled experimental conditions. Quantity method mainly is used in this research, and quality method is used too. Different point of views and levels have been taken in the investigation of the influence of college students' active emotion and negative emotion from vary types of social comparison.This dissertation contains four parts.Study 1, social comparison record method was used here in order to find the condition of social comparison, and the correlation between social comparison direction and emotion health of college students in daily life. The results are, significant different are found in sexual, dimensions and directions in their comparison, social comparison direction can influence the emotion of college students too.Study 2, Iowa-Netherlands Comparison Orientation Measure (INCOM) was used to investigate the condition of social comparison of college students, the correlation between social comparison orientation and emotion health of college students.
