This dissertation mainly researches the hybridity theory of Homi Bhabha, and with this theory as the ground, the dissertation discusses the development and significance of the postmodernist version of identity with Bhabha's hybridity theory as its representative in the contemporary ear.Bhabha's hybridity theory roots in the theory of discourses of novel of Bakhtin, the Psycho-analysis of Lacan and the Deconstructionism of Derrida. Bakhtin's researches on the discourses of novel indicates the resisting power hided behind the discourse hybridity which is done on purpose. While the idea that the formation of self is reliant on the other emphasized by Lacan, can be used to question the opinion that power is entirely grasped by the colonizer in the background of colonialism. The Deconstructionism of Derrida proved that the meaning of word can not be finally fixed, which is also implied that the identity reliant on the representation can not be completely obturated and fixed. Combining these thoughts, Bhabha created his own conception of hybridity, and employed it in the background of colonialism, indicating that it is possible for the colonized to rewrite, translate and hybridize the culture of the colonist, and revealing the...
