This thesis renovate the Tao-chi's identity though the psychology of Chinese intellectuals by dint of the literature theoretics, aesthetics and history. The author considers that the spirit of Chinese intellectuals influenced Tao-chi deeply. And it is that conception about thinking Tao much than technique and painting form integrating the poesy, handwriting, painting and print. We can recognize it from that Tao-chi established the theoretics of the One and the desirability to be an official and the liability about society. The integration of the spirit of Chinese intellectuals and the Tao-chi's aesthetics urged him to write the theoretic about the One and affect the neoteric brushwork and modern ones. The thesis has five chapters:The first chapter depicts the character of the spirit of Chinese intellectuals, change from Song and Ming dynasty and the character in mind of Tao-chi's aesthetics. The author thinks that the Chinese intellectuals pursued Tao and attaches importance to culture and the responsibility to society from Tao-chi.The second chapter retrospects the connection between-the spirit of Chinese intellectuals and the painting by intellectuals. It is important that literate artist think much of Tao. In Tao-chi's work, we can see that artist attach importance to several art forms.The third chapter recounts the spirit of Chinese intellectuals in Tao-chi's theoretic about the One and its framework. In his work, he discussed the relationship between the One and the cosmogony, artist and the producing, the tradition and the reformation, the painting techniques. From his criticism to Four Artist in Qing dynasty, we can see clearly his responsibility to society.The forth and fifth chapters relate the relationship the theoretic about the One of Tao-chi and the neoteric brushwork and modem ones. From Eight crackpots in Yangzhou to neoteric artists such as Qibaishi, Pantianshou, and Huangbinhong in and modern artists such as Wuguanzhong, Zhangting, Shita's theoretics and works enlightened them all.
