The thesis is in the theory structure of tales morphology connecting with theory and method of society-psychology, culture-psychology, create-psychology and aesthetics-psychology. It attempts to research the "mentalitize" appearance of the May 4th Times stories to expound systematically the deep modern properties of the May 4th Times stories which in the start time of Chinese stories and explain the historic reason why a transformation took place on the create model of Chinese stories and delineate some inner factors that lead to the literature change in order to provide some basis and viewpoints for deeper researches on modern contents and senses of May 4th Times literature.The following parts mainly make up the thesis: The first part probes into historic background and inner spirit cause of formation that lead to emergence of the "mentalitize" appearance of the May 4th Times stories. This is mainly the content of chapter one. The second part aims to main spirit appearances as well as important literature subjects and literature sentiments that include the "youth-mould" age spirit appearance and the subject of live "awaken", the "self question-mould" historic culture spirit appearance and the subject of culture "self question", the "degradation-mould" life spirit appearance and the subject of life "degradation", the "tragedy-mould" aesthetics spirit appearance and the sentiments of "suffering" and "sad" that constitute the mental-artistic world of the "mentalitize" of the May 4th Time stories. These are mainly the contents of chapter two, three, four, five. The third part discusses the main artistic quality and creative form that formed the mental-artistic world of the May 4th Time stories that include the life understand form based on "real experience", the creative method of the romantic realism mixed with the real-critical romanticism, the "pour out" literary form, the personal-formed speech form, the psychological narrate form. This is mainly the contents of chapter six, seven.There are two differences between the viewpoints of this thesis and that of the same studies before: First, this thesis inspects importantly the modern properties of the May 4th Times stories from the historical background of the general transformation of create model of Chinese novel in order to stress the transformation included both the change of "what to write" and the change of "how to write", the mixture of which made up the modern properties of the May 4th Times stories departed that before. "What to write" is not just "reflect and describe life through modern consciousness", nor "how to write" is not just writing stories through some modern artistic ways and methods resembled the studies before. The mixture of both impressed mainly a general change from content to form, which is, the attention to human's deep metal world and the development of introverted artistic tendency. The stories divert their artistic depicting attention from human's outer-life world to inner mental world, from outer action and relation to inner idea, emotion, aspiration and mentality that lead to a very important change of artistic feature of story from classical to modern shape.
