"huai Road, On Exploration

Huai Nan Zi is a great works at the milestone from Zhu Zi Xue to Confucianism in the beginning of Han dynasty. It assimilates various philosophical thoughts such as Confucianism, Legist thinking, Yin-Yang study, especially the philosophy of Taoism, which is being widely acclaimed by scholars from Han dynasty. On discussing Taoism, Lao-Zi emphasizes particularly on universe, Zhuang-Zi on humanism, and Huang-Lao on politics. Huai Nan Zi integrates three thoughts into one system. In the system, the viewpoint of universe is foundation, humanism and politics are application of Taoism to heart and nation respectively. To Taoist, managing heart is to manage nation, so, Huai Nan Zi can be regarded as a book of "political trickery", and this is just about writing intention indicated in last piece YaoLue. This dissertation tries to do some textual research about philosophy of Taoism in Huai Nan Zi. The whole paper is divided into three parts: Exordium, main body and conclusion.The part of exordium includes research actualities of Huai Nan Zi, explanation of the word "Taoism (道) "in this theme, the framework about the paper, methods and innovations about this research.The main body is composed of five chapters.Chapter one introduces the political and learning background of Huai Nan Zi. The political background introduces the conflict between the central court and leuds, and the reason of Liu-an's tragic life, further more, the fact whether he rebelled is discussed. The learning background of Huai Nan Zi refers to the synthetic characteristics of learning in early Han dynasty and flourish of Huai-Nan state learning.Chapter two discusses which school Huai Nan Zi belongs to and its thinking framework. This part firstly analyzes division of the school and its shortage, and then particularizes the main viewpoints on which school Huai Nan Zi belongs to, and finally proves that it belongs to Taoism through textual research.
