Chinese Detective Novels And Their Comparative Studies

Within modern 100 years, Chinese detective novels developed with difficulties experiencing the nascent, developing and mature period separately. This paper, with the factual situation of the social changes of China and the translation as well as the creation of detective novels, divides the course of Chinese detective novels' development into four stages chronologically : the occurrence stage in modern times, the development stage in present times, the stage of specific form of expression from the 1950s' to 1970s' and prosperous stage after reformation and opening to the outside world. This paper explores the driving forces which promote the development of detective novels at every stage from the aspects of foreign influence, national inheritance, transformation of society and thoughts of society, studying the translation, creation and localization of detective novels of every stage, analyzing the representative writers and their works. Based on a system of coordinates of ancient and modern times together with domestic and foreign countries, this paper, from the perspective of comparative literature, diachronically explores the inheritance and development of Chinese detective novels comparing with ancient novels and ancient cultures of case story, the influence of conventional rites on Chinese detective novels, the interrelations between detective novels, novels of legal case and chivalrous novels; synchronically studying the evolvement of Chinese detective novels of more than one century from the aspects of world literature and world detective novels, systematically clearing the influence of foreign detective novels on the creation of...
