The Mind Mengzhuang The Comparative Study

The Disposition Theory, which is also called the learning of disposition, is the theory and the thoughts about human mind and thoughts. In the Pre—Qtn days, i,e before 221B, C, Chinese Philosophy mainly focused on human and heaven. However, the center of it is human but not heaven. as a result, the learning of disposition has always been a basic theory of Chinese philosophy. Mencius and Zhuangzi both lived in the warring States Period. The two great philosophers, though both had great achievements and skilled in debate and had influences in their own area, did not have any real debate or discussion. They were in the same time but did not attach to each other's theory. However, this fact dose not weaken the comparativeness between the two .Instead, as two great philosophy in the same period of time, their thoughts, having a lot in common and also with their own characteristics , are worth our comparing.Ever from ancient time, it has been difficult to underst and the theory of disposition. Works and papers on this topic are numerous. This thesis only discusses the theory of disposition between Mencius and Zhuangzi comparatively.Firstly, this thesis gives a superficial analysis on the research of the theory of disposition of Mencius and Zhuangzi from the foundation of new China to nowadays ,and briefly analyze the current research on the following branches: the logic frame of the theory of Mencius and Zhuangzi ,the whole construction of Zhuangzi's theory on disposition , the basic implication of Mencius' theory that human beings are born good, and the origin, refining method and the highest exent reached of Mencius' and Zhuangzi's theory .This topic has been the focus of research both in Taiwan and on the mainland and many achievements have been made. through esearch on deeper and richer impression of the theory on disposition . But we should notice that there is a lack of comparative research between the two and that dose not match the abundant research on the theory.
