Tumote Plain is located in the south-middle Inner Mongolia, where human has grown and propagated from of old. Owing to its particularity in geographic location and natural condition, it become an area with farming and nomadic cultures interacting upon each other, according to the historic records, many ethnic populations lived in Mongolian steppes. Some of the populations such as Tufang, Guifang, Xianyun, Rongdi, Xiongnu, Turki and Huihu and Mongols et al. They had different effects on the populations from the Eurasian steppes and populations from Central Plain. At the same time, the Tumote Plain is an area with farming and nomadic cultures interacting upon each other and belongs to the Great Wall belt in northern China in the cultural history. Therefore, research on the populations from the different space-time in the belt is important and far-reaching for the probing into population migrations and gene flow as well as communications and replace of culture between populations.In this dissertation, including seven chapters, is aimed at researching the human skeletons from Tuchengzi site, Helinge'er County, Inner Mongolian Province. It is a research by many different methods such as ethology, paleopathology, dietary analysis, long bone and other referenced study such as archaeology and geography.Chapter I.In this chapter, historical background of the study was established and concept of the Tumote Plain was defined. The geographical location the Tumote Plain and Tuchengzi site were introduces, the purpose and explanation theory of the paper was explained.Chapter II.In according to the research of archaeology, demology and biology, the average life-span of population were calculated and the reasons of death were explored. Author analyzes the proportion of gender and the reason of the life-span difference of male and female. Chapter III.Author measured the length of limb bones and valuated stature of the population. The result of research shows that Tuchengzi population is Average stature of the population is very short.ChapterIV.we examine Tuchengzi human paleodiet using stable isotope ratios of carbon and nitrogen in bone collagen. Nitrogen isotope ratios of bone collagen show that Tuchengzi ancient inhabitants in primarily ate plant products, Carbon isotope ratios of bone collagen show that most plant products come from C4 plant.ChapterV.The skulls of Tuchengzi site were observed and measured, The morphological features of Tuchengzi crania show that the racial type is closely related to the modern East Asiatic Mongoloids, and some physical characteristics of these skulls are closer to the modern South Asiatic Mongoloids and the modem Fushun population.ChapterVI.The author researches the racial type of the ancient groups in the south-middle Inner Mongolia before Qin Dynasty, and points out the course of "Ancient Central Plain Type" distribution in this area. The headstream racial type of Tuchengzi population was discussed, they are the immigrant from Zhao state as soldier.ChapterVII.Conclusion. It makes a summarized discussion about the whole six chapter.
