Trauma Narrative. "scars" And "reflection" In Literature Study

"Trauma", as a kind of universal suffering and life experience of human life, is always one of major themes of literary narration. This dissertation takes"scar"and"introspection"literature as examples from the perspective of narrative content and adopts the methodology of narratology and ideological analysis to review the"traumatic"narration and analyze the close relationship between such narration and the context of politic and culture in the"New Period". Furthermore, the author of this paper points out that although the traumatic narration in the"scar"and"introspection"literature possesses strong ideological function, it runs short of the care for life itself, where"trauma"represented is full of fictiveness and only rests on the apparent level. Therefore, the author of this dissertation holds that"trauma", either as historical recollection or life experience, can not be well and deeply expressed in the narration of this period and thereby puts forward the value and quality of traumatic narration and the path of realization it should possess.This dissertation is composed of three parts: introduction, content and conclusion.The introduction mainly defines relevant concepts and points out the epistemological and ethical value possessed by traumatic narration; and explains the cause and significance of choosing the traumatic narration in the"scar"and"introspection"literature as objects of research; and then puts forward the specific tasks and methods used in this paper.The content is divided into four chapters:Chapter One: The Origin and Development of Traumatic Narration This chapter reviews the history of traumatic narration in the"scar"and"introspection"literature. First, the author of this paper narrates the tradition of traumatic narration in the literary history and puts the research objects of this paper into this tradition in order to locate its historical position. Then it shows the history of traumatic narration from 1977 to 1984: first taking"unpublic literature"in the Cultural Revolution as the pretext of"scar"and"introspection"literature to explore the height of thought and form of its traumatic narration ,and then taking the symbolic texts as examples, by showing their narration of trauma and the debate on texts to analyze the evolution of the formation, theme and aesthetic style of traumatic narration in the"scar"and"introspection"literature and the main functions undertaken in the"scar"and "introspection"literature so as to disclose the relationship between traumatic narration and the era context after the Cultural Revolution .Chapter Two: Research on the Elements of Story of Traumatic NarrationThis chapter concentrates on exploring the specific representation of the basic elements of story of traumatic narration in the texts created in this period. Through the analysis of the arrangement of time, characters and some core plots in the traumatic narration of this period, an overall grasp of its narrative grammar and a unique conception of value can be gained, and that the arrangement of particulars in most of traumatic narration echoes the realistic context, especially the state ideology is also illustrated.Chapter Three: Research on the Types of Story of Traumatic NarrationThis chapter further analyzes the types of story of traumatic narration. By use of the methods of Structure Narratology on studying plot, the author of this paper classifies the traumatic narration in this period into three categories: the"politic type","ethical and legendary type"and"individual experience", and then through analyzing different types of traumatic narration to grasp its motif in this period and display the characteristics of different types of stories in designing the causation of hurt and searching for the significance of such hurt.The aforesaid three chapters mainly take traumatic narration in this period as a phenomenon of module. The author anatomizes it from different perspectives in pursuit of holding its characteristics in all aspects. And the analysis of the context, which generates narration, is permeated into every chapter and section, serving on exploring the reason to have such kind of narration.Chapter Four: The Representation and Defilade of"Trauma"Based on the above research, this chapter explores the representation and defilade of"Trauma"in traumatic narration in the"scar"and"introspection"literature, which in fact is the value-judgment to the traumatic narration in this period. The author of this paper holds that the traumatic narration in the"scar"and"introspection"literature mainly unfolds a kind of"political trauma", the narration intentionally defilades the expression of individual experience of trauma, and it only lies on the surface in the introspection of"politic". The author of this paper hereby makes endeavor to search for the causation from the narrator and points out the influences of the spiritual standpoint and covert narrative impulse of the narrator on the representation of"trauma", then further shows the representation and defilade of"trauma"in the narration of this period through the exhibition of the subsequent development of trauma narration.Conclusion: The Wayout of Traumatic NarrationThis part intends to make out that the traumatic narration in the"scar"and"introspection"literature is a kind of narration mainly expropriated by state ideology and the strong ideological function of it. The author of this paper also points out that trauma, in essence, is a kind of life phenomenon and the narration of trauma shall have the life dimensionality and make traumatic narration an art of life. Such kind of life dimensionality is embodied as the exact delivery of the experience of individual trauma, the profound disclosure of all strength obstructed happiness and the love and sympathy of life run through it. Only such kind of traumatic narration is provided with higher art and thinking value and can efficiently comfort"the wounder", no matter who undertakes such trauma---- the individual, nation or state.The purposes of this dissertation rest on primarily holding the basic grammar of"trauma"as memory or experience entering into narration through the research on traumatic narration in the"scar"and"introspection"literature, and reflecting the conditions of constructing a kind of life aesthetic by traumatic narration, by which also expresses the author's love and care of life. Taking"scar"and"introspection"literature as the objects of research, this paper is also a visit of"1980s"and questions the myth of"1980s".
