Literature River Of Theory

The thesis reviews the Zhongshan Journal, one of first-class literature journal, from 1979 to 1999 for totally 120 issues within 20 years at a view of full aspects. The characteristics that how Zhongshan Jounal managed its way are investigated. The relationships between Zhongshan and literature are also discussed. Besides the preface and the epilogue, the thesis consistes of three chapters.In the preface, the overall characteristics of Zhongshan Journal as a literaturejournal, is illustrated. Based on the idea of "the four-main-factors of literature" by M.H. Abrams, a "six-main-factors" analysis method, i.e., edition, manuscripts, journal, works, readers and society, is put forward in this thesis. Literature should be treated as a dynamic trend.Chapter one, mainly focuses on the relationships between Zhongshan Journal and manuscripts.and concentrates on the edition of Zhongshan Journal, namely, the edition of nouns and verbs. Especially the edition of verbs can be divided into three editing methods as "edition" author, self-editing, editing Zhongshan.Chapter two, the works of Zhongshan Journal can be divided into two parts, i.e., literature works and literary criticism, according to the contents of works. Literature works are characterized by two main periods. During the earlier period (from 1979 to 1984), works mainly reflected "the cultural revolution", life in the rural areas and interpreted the common life. During the later period (from 1985 to 1999), works were typically represented by "pioneer" literature, "new verisimilitude" and "new mode and state" stories. As for works of literary criticism, there were different criticisms such as criticisms of authors, histories, criticism, and thought & hatch out.Chapter three, the relationship between Zhongshan Journal and society is investigated, especially the effects of change and shift of society and market-oriented economy on the literature journal. The response of Zhongshan Journal to those social and economical factors is illustrated. The gain and loss of Zhongshan Journal is also discussed. The authors should be multiple types, e.g., self-concerning (individual) type and public concerning one. The public concerning type is expected to be the predominant population at present.The epilogue, how can literature wind its way to the future just like a river is described. Zhongshan as one of first-class literature journal should concern these issues and play a leading role in dealing with these issues.
