Daily narration is regarded as a striking feature of the Cainozoic Era novel. From"Daily poetics"angle of view, this paper attempts to preliminarily interpret the living world in Cainozoic Era writer's works.ChapterⅠIntroductionBy discussing the present research and significance of this subject, the introduction part intends to point out that the world is undergoing rapid change, and the existing theory cannot fully interpret the Cainozoic Era novel whose aim is to display present lives. Facing this difficult position, it is imperative to establish"daily poetics"which aims to define the connotation of daily narration. From this, the author thinks that all these theories, including the phenomenology, the existentialism philosophy, the daily life critique, the life politics, consumption principle, are useful resources to establish"daily poetics". In fact, this paper is a preliminary application of this theoretical conception, and it intends to prove its validity by a series of brand-new viewpoints. In this part, it also outlines the development of daily narration in Chinese and western literature history, which provides an historical reference for the concrete elaboration in the main text.ChapterⅡThe emergence of daily space and timeThis part initially discusses the structure of space and time in the Cainozoic Era novel. (1) According to pakistanhekking, daily time cannot serve as datum time in novel because of its stagnation. The Cainozoic Era novel has broken this artistic taboo. It both takes daily time as basic real time, and devotes to break its stagnation and repetition by various techniques. On one hand, it supplements daily time with multi-dimensional ones such as the legendary time, the physiological time, the psychological time, the historical time and so on. On the other hand, it attempts to surpass the daily time by changeable narrative time. The Cainozoic Era writers have created their own artistic dialectic by both"making use of"and"breaking through". (2) Cainozoic Era novel generally take the daily space as the basic real space, which has the characteristic of aesthetics, desire and intent. Based on this theory, the paper analyzes the cultural connotation of some daily space such as the bedroom, the kitchen, the bar and so on. (3)In the Cainozoic Era novel, the daily time and daily space combine together, constituting a new space and time which we call"the daily space and time". Contrary to the former space and time, which takes time as the leading feature, this new one gives the space the leadership, and time expends centering on space. We believe that by the creation of"the daily space and time", the Cainozoic Era fictions have marked their own feature.ChapterⅢThe prominence of life politicsAs the advancement of globalization, society's subject is changing from liberation politics to life politics. This profound change has emerged in Cainozoic Era works, and life politics has become their focus. Three issues are explored here: (1) Intimacy. At present, intimacy based on emotional democratization has been regarded as an ideal relational pattern between bodies. Judging the bisexual relations from this angle, love can be divided by distance into amour passion, romantic love and confluent love. The Cainozoic Era novel writers generally deny the amour passion which is based on irrational eruption. Although they yearn for romantic love which is characteristic of emotional transcendence, they are helpless but to face the reality and write stories of"desire disintegrates the romantic love"one after another. The confluent love is featured with interlocution between bodies and combination of soul and flesh. It has primarily realized the emotional democratization which is regarded as an ideal pattern most close to intimacy. The Cainozoic Era writers seldom describe confluent love directly, but they often prove its rationality from the reverse side. Whether is it negligence of the sex between main parts, or tendency to despise eroticism, they all criticize it severely. Love is a historical concept. If we neglect the confluent love with eroticism in it, and regard the classical romantic love as the single standard for love, we can only have a one-sided conclusion that the Cainozoic Era writers write nothing about love but lust. (2) Body polities. As the rise of post-modern culture, body has become a core of life politics. The Cainozoic Era writers not only take delight in observing the living world from body angle, but also introduce this angle of view into historical reflection. They describe disciplined body, and condemn power's punishment and supervision on body under radical political environment. They describe bodies used for consumption, and discuss various forms of body consumption. They explain, body as the main part of desire, body under the control of exchange principle, body as a sign of showing off, and body as the requisite of"eyeball economy". They describe sick body, and explore a series of issues including the relations between illness and social order, the reducing effect of illness on mortal body, dementia and its cultural connotation, the relations between illness and moral, the ailment's spiritual transcendence. The majority of the focuses of Cainozoic Era writers'body narration are blind spots in former literature. Therefore, its literary value is self-evident.(3) Self-identity. Self-identity is the basic issue of life politics. However, for Chinese society which is now in transition, self-identity is in crisis. Starting form this spiritual phenomenon, the Cainozoic Era writers not only reveal the lost sense of belonging in macroscopic angle, and criticize that public identity has covered up self-identity, but also analyze various concrete forms of disintegration of self-identity in microscopic angle—the loss of continuity of self-experience, the break-off of ideal self and real self, the confusion of imaginary self and self in action. Self-identity crisis is a concentrated manifestation of contemporary cultural crisis. From the angel of so-called political"essence"and"rule", the Cainozoic Era writers have not provided much depth for us. But from the angel of life politics, we can find"depth"in other dimension. If we ignore this"depth"and temporize it with excuse of"flatness", our comment will be at risk of invalidity.ChapterⅣThe transcendence of daily behaviorAlthough novels are keen on writing about daily life, they usually can break the bandage of perceptual phenomenon, and extend the significance to every domain such as culture, history, philosophy and so on. (1) The living world is a cultural domain. Cultural reflection runs through criticism of daily life—the exposition of traditional culture's inertia, the criticism of caste, the reflection on"murder by sentiment"in reason culture. Obviously, these subjects that draw the universal attention of Cainozoic Era writers inherited the nationalistic critique from"The Forth of May"intellectuals. Judging from this, we can see Cainozoic Era novel has not completely broken off. There still exists writing facing literature history. (2) For a long time, there is universal separation between history and daily life in literature. The Cainozoic Era novel attempts to bridge this gap. They give up constructing great history, but rather interpret history as the existent situation of human beings, and spare no efforts to display daily life under specific historical situation. This artistic exploration stands for a new breakthrough of the contemporary novel. (3)Many Cainozoic Era writers are conscious of pursuing philosophy. They devote to the description of real existence of daily life—the anxiety of time, the instinctive of loneliness, the absurd world, the void imprisonment, and the intention of redeem. This life experience with a tinge of existentialism endows life with a metaphysical significance. By exploration in cultural, historical, and philosophical field, the Cainozoic Era writers'works have gradually thrown off narrowness of daily life and trivial limitation. Thus, their connotations have been enriched.ChapterⅤThe display of daily characterThe Cainozoic Era writers abhor those characters made up by model. Regarding Card Reese the Masurium type, they use desire to replace moral, humanism to question heroism, and daily images to ridicule public ones. In this way, they expose its falseness. Regarding the intellectual images, on one hand, they taunt their ingrained enlightening and political complex. On the other hand, they restore their abnormal life to normal. By these subverting narrative strategies, the typical character'historical status as main body has been dispelled. The Cainozoic Era writers dedicate themselves to depict the common people image—ignorant youth, ruffian, the wicked. They have built the unique character decorated corridor by their own creations.ChapterⅥIndividual analysisThis part interprets five representative writers. Qiu Huadong devotes to explore the effect of consumption ideology on the essence of daily life dissimilation. Zhu Wen is accustomed to observe the absurd life experience and frail human nature in trivial matters. Dong Xi is absorbed in presenting man's passive living situation by depicting daily miseries. Wei Wei sticks to seeking an emotional homeland in the living world. In private life, Chen Ran presents a spiritual shrinking course from self-identity crisis to house arrest and narcissism. In fact, these five writers represent five kinds of esthetic types in daily life: consumption type, mediocre type, miserable type, tender type and private type of daily life.
