The dissertation studies synthetically firstly on the Jianghuai Mandarine so far, basing on the database of Jianghuai Mandarine including 89 vernaculars and comparing them by new technologies and skills. Not only are the geographic distributing characteristics of the sound of Jianghuai Mandarine discussed macroscopically, but microcosmicly. The methods used in the paper will provide a mirror for the whole research of Chinese Dialects. There are nine Chapters in the dissertation. The questions discussed include the development of the languages in Jianghuai region, the classification of Jianghuai Mandarine, the diachronic and synchronic characteristics of the sound in Jianghuai Mandarine and the situation of microcosmic change of Jianghuai Dialects. In the 1st Chapter, We analyze the changes in Jianghuai region from OC to LC.In the 2nd Chapter, we discuss some issues on the classification on Jianghuai Mandarine. Depending on the latest districts, we plot out three sub-dialects in Jianghuai Mandarine, indcluding Hongcao(洪巢), Tongtai(通泰)and Huanxiao(黄孝)by two new standards. There are some differences between us and Language Atlas of China (1987).From the 3rd to 8th Chapter, the author analyzes the geographic distribution typologically of Jianghuai Mandarine, and the sound characteristics are demonstrated intuitionistically by the atlas with computer. He argues that there are two sound diachronic hierachicies in Jianghuai Mandarine including Tangsong(唐宋)and Minqing(明清).In the 9th chapter, we choose the youngest-style Nankingese as our survey object to make clear the new sound characters of Nankingese, and conclude two types of the sound changes in Nankingese during the past twenty years. This survey keeps on former research and complements the blank of the youngest-style Nankingese.
