Since The Ming And Qing Dynasties Huizhou Folk Beliefs Study

The popular religion of Huizhou district (徽州) is a academically topic in Huizhou studies. Based on the relatively former studies, this dissertation made a special research on this field through collecting Huizhou documents and data extensively.Firstly, the article researched the TaiZi God(太子神). Though Tong-zhen Prince (通真太子)was Zhangxun(张巡), while not only folk faith about them was coexistent, but also there even existed many different Prince faiths. Accordingly, the titles about Zhang King(张王)are of a great variety. And all of above reflected the multiplicity and complexiy of folk faith in Hui-zhou district. On the other hand, the essential reason for polytheism prevail was the folk-gods faith matched Confucianism standard. As a result the Confucianism Gods prevailed in the history and Confucianism became the main special characteristic of the popular religion in the Huizhou district.Secondly, focused on the different attitudes to interior Gods( that is the gods of the patriarchal lineage) and exterior Gods(the gods of the regional area), the paper gained the conclusion that the the ultimate goal of the exterior Gods belief served the interior Gods and clan Etiquette, consequently, the folk faith of Huizhou had the patriarchal lineage characteristic.Thirdly, from the tong and drama angle of view, the paper discussed the folk faith activities and customs in Hui-zhou district, discovered the prosperous and characteristic of the Hui-zhou societies, the customs deducted from Guan-di societies and Zhu-sheng societies and study the folk faith and customs of entertainment God in Hui-zhou district.Finally the paper focused on the architectural landscape of the folk religion in Huizhou district, analyzed the couplet hung on the columns of a hall (Ying-lian,楹联) and some other cultural phenomena.In conclusion, by the means of working over the several special subjects, the research made a useful attempt to delineate the fundmental condition of the popular religion in Hui-zhou.
