Zhou Zuoren's View Of Religion

Zhou Zuoren is a thinker who proposes "Hominine Literature", "The Common People's Literature", and "Personality of Literature" and so on.He's also a trivialist(Miscellaneous scient ist) who is interested in women,kids and religion facts which are comparatively minority fields. Although these fields were considered as minority fields,but now we know these become important things. So among these important things,the present writer discusses about religion and Zhou Zuoren's thought and hopes to reveal an important source of Zhou Zuoren's thought through this study.This article is divided into three parts:Shmanism, Confucianism and Christianity.On Shamanism,because Zhou Zuoren thought that Shamanism study can help to know the folk life, he accepted the already extant Shamanism.However, he had scientific attitude and worried about religion from barbarous practices.So he generally opposed to the recent Shamanism.On Confucianism,at that time, the majority of intellectual,including Zhou Zuoren,disliked old-fashioned ideas.Confucianism is one of the most representative things among them.So they opposed to Confucianism.However, Zhou Zuoren recognized that he can't break away from Confucianism,so he just could make efforts to escape from that old-fashioned ideas.On Christianity, Zhou Zuoren had a scholar's point of view. In other words,the reason of Zhou Zuoren accepting Christianity is the learning aspect, not religion.When Zhou Zuoren accepted Christianity, he excluded "the one and only god" and "mystery" things and maintained on objective,learning and enlightening point of view.Through Zhou Zuoren's stand about each religion,the author of this article would like to know about his role in the world of Modern Chinese intellectual.For example,When Zhou Zuoren proposes Christianity, he was regarded as the scholar having the scientific thought. From his opposition of Shamanism and Confucianism,he performed the avant-courier of enlightening.Zhou Zuoren's thought is very complex,so it is difficult to understand him fully and exactly. From the perspective of Religion,we could only understand an aspect of Zhou Zuoren. However, it is good for us to understand him further.
