In the study, narrative analysis was carried out in the process research of individual analytical psychotherapy for the first time, and this pilot research was tried to explore the verbal interactive modes, emotion reaction and emergent images during the processes of individual analytical psychotherapy by the complexity research methods of complexity computation and emergence, which might facilitate the empirical demonstration in the complexity exploration of analytical psychotherapy. The narrative processes coding system and the verbal response mode categories system were used to describe the narrative modes of analytical psychotherapy. It was indicated that different analytical psychotherapy methods tended to priorize different combinations of narritive processes sequences and verbal response modes. It was indicated that active imagination took on the character of the combination of external narrative sequences and internal narrative sequences, which tended to be one kind of evocative psychotherapy initiated by the therapist's question, holding and direct guidance to arouse the internal feeling of the client; association analysis was characteristic by the combination of external narrative sequences and reflexive narrative sequences, which tended to be one kind of psychotherapy leading by the interpretation of therapist. However, theripist's listening and holding might be the common factor of different analytical psychotherapeutic methods.Path analysis model of clients' quality evaluation was established according to the standard regression coefficients by Pearson correlation and multiple stepwise regression analysis. It was indicated that the narrative modes, which clients shifted into the experience and description of internal feeling initiated by therapists' question, holding and direct guidance, was one of the most important modes that could advance the clients' depth evaluation of sessions. The clients' depth evaluation of sessions and the positive emotion experience aroused during the sessions were the two important factors that could bring about the positive influence upon clients' quality evaluation of psychotherapy. However, it was argued that therapists' interpretation was negatively correlated to clients' depth evaluation of sessions and quality evaluation of psychotherapy, which was different from the results of other psychotherapy researches. The results suggested that it might be an approach to improve effectiveness of individual analytical psychotherapy by providing different psychotherapy methods to clients in the light of their personality types to meet their requirements more effectively. Simultaneously, it also suggested that clients' openness and cooperation were the important factors that could influence the effect of individual analytical psychotherapy. The analytical psychotherapy processes presented different structural and dynamical characteristics by the analysis of verbal interactive modes between the therapist and client. The results of symbol time series analysis indicated that the change of Shannon entropy and fluctuation complexity of the verbal interactive modes between the therapist and client during sessions did not have the single tendence of increasing or decreasing. However, there was a 'parabola' relationship between Shannon entropy and fluctuation complexity of verbal interactive modes, which suggested that the verbal interactive modes of individual analytical psychotherapy had some formula, and at the same time, they also possessed an uncertainty. By Pearson correlation and multiple stepwise regression analysis, it was indicated that the complexity of interactive modes was positively influenced by clients' information mode and had positive effect upon clients' depth, positivity and quality evaluation of sessions.According to the nonlinear time series analysis, it was indicated that the largest lyapunov exponent of galvanic skin response (GSR) aroused in statement, active imagination and association analysis stage of the client participating in integrated analytical psychotherapy were all positive, which suggested that the client's GSR during individual analytical psychotherapy had the property of chaos. The results also suggested that the GSR aroused in active imagination stage might be more regular, representing the tendence of fluctuation according to the emotion responses during the psychotherapy process and finally return to the level of baseline following the integration of different kinds of emotions; the GSR aroused in statement and association analysis represented the property of more uncertainty, which indicated the complexity change and meaning during the process of analytical psychotherapy. The emergence idea of complexity theory had significant implications for interpreting the change during the process of analytical psychotherapy and exploring the psychological experiene and development of human being, which would be helpful for us to improve the understanding of the healing process and transformation mechanism of analytical psychotherapy. It was indicated that analytical psychotherapy could promote the feeling of wellbeing, meaning of life, self-esteem and self-efficacy of clients. The study had improved the comprehension of the theory and methods of analytical psychotherapy, provided empirical evidences for qualitative inference of healing and transformation mechanism, and offerd references for clinical practice, teaching, training and supervision of analytical psychotherapy.
