A Study Of The Khalkha Sechen Khan Group Prior To 1691

The history of Khalkha is an important part of the history of the Mongols.There were three big groups of Khalkha before being subjugated into Qing Dynasty.The group of Sechen Khan was the fourth group that formed in the territory of the Khalkha Mongols. This dissertation discusses the origin of the Sechen Khan group,political activities of the leaders,affinity of the ruling family,and the relationship between the Sechen Khan group and the neighboring countries based on The Mongolian archives of inner secretary institute of the Qing dynasty(Qingchao neimishuyuan menggu wen dangan),Archives of Mongolian house in inner office of the Qing dynasty(Qingchao neige menggu tangdang), Manchu archives of the state academy of history of the Qing dynasty(Qing chao neiguoshiyuan manwen dangan),archive materials related to the relationship between Russia and China,historical sources in Mongolian,Chinese and Tibetan,as well as materials collected during field works in Mongolia.This dissertation consists of eight parts:1,"Introduction";which present significance of the subject,relevant researches,main content of the paper and sources of materials I use in the research;2,"Chapter one,the Khalkha Miliarch before the 17^th century".This chapter discusses the formation and development of the Khalkha Miliarch, Geresanje's children and their Otug,and Khalkha Khans in the 16^th century.3,"Chapter two,Conferring a title of Khan to Sholui and establishing the Sechen Khan group" talks about early political activities of Sholui Khan,such as granting a title of Khan to first generation Sechen Khan,and establishing of the Sechen Khan group and its pasture land. 4,"chapter three,Sholui Sechen Khan's political activities and its influence" focuses on religious and political activities of Sholui Sechen Khan.Namely,how he attempts to preserve the supremacy of Mongol Khan,how to support Jibzundamba Khutugt,the relations between Sholui Khan and the Qing dynasty from 1634 to 1646,how to strive to invite Dalai Lama,and the situation of Sholui Sechen Khan after the Alliance of Khalkha -Oirad in 1640.5,"Chapter four,the forming of the Sechen Khan family and the Sechen Khan group",it concludes Sholui and his ancestors' affinity,and Otugs and other clan in the Sechen Khan group.6,"Chapter five,the relations between the Sechen Khan group and Russia" traces the relations of embassy between the Sechen Khan group and Russia, the meaning of embassy,the relationship between the Sechen Khan group and Russia in the 60s-80s of the 17^th century.7,"Chapter six,the Sechen Khan group in the late period of 17^th century" talks about the Sechen Khan group in the historical period of Ahai Khatun to the Norbu Khan,Qing dynasty and the 4^th and 5^th Sechen Khan,and the incursion of Galdan and the forming of the Sechen Khan group in Qing state.8,Conclusion summaries author's own ideas and points put in the article...
