The research in Guqin and its music has become a hot spot of academy in recent years and the value and significance of guqin music culture has become more and more distinguished with the constant emerge of the related research fruits in all subjects and fields. In the musicology community, scholars attach more importance to the textual research, analysis and research from the angel of the guqin music itself; on base of the fruitful research result of the scholars, this thesis furthermore selects"Qin association"as the guqin music culture research factor, which is put into the social culture network to have multi-layer and multi-angle analysis on music culture.This research has contemporary local Guqin association of Zhejiang–"The West Lake Qin Association"as the study case, makes detailed analysis first and then abstract thinking and furthermore makes exploration and summary for the guqin music culture position through the in-depth descriptions on its guqin music ideas, guqin music activities and guqin music matters on base of the presentation of field works.In the treatment course, this thesis starts from tracing the guqin music history of Zhejiang, investigates and studies the evolution status by using the research method of national musicology diachronism to show the profound historic background and culture accumulation of the guqin music at Zhejiang and the formation culture background and Qin study basis of the contemporary guqin music at Zhejiang and the West Lake Qin Association. On such base, this thesis develops the recapitulative description and analysis on the history and existing situation of The West Lake Qin Association to have the overall cognition and macro master for it and reveal its important position in the Qin community of Zhejiang and the academic research value of having it as the research object. In the micro investigation and research of the West Lake Qin Association, this thesis also selects the two focuses as"The guqin music popularization"and"The relation between the West Lake Qin Association and newly Zhejiang group of guqin music"and makes in-depth investigation and objective analysis on the occurred guqin music matters to make clear that the popularization of contemporary guqin music is the trend of the times, while the co-existence and interaction between Qin associations and Qin groups in the development becomes one of the core drives of its development.By focusing on the two core issues mentioned above, with the precondition of making detailed description and in-depth analysis on the guqin music activities of the West Lake Qin association, this thesis furthermore looks to domestic Qin community and makes discussions and thinking on the existing substantial issues in the development of contemporary guqin music. In line with the two kinds of guqin music culture position philosophy in terms of"popularization"and"elite approach", this thesis proposes the traditional development strategy for guqin music that"has the popularization as the base and the elite approach as the end-result"so as to hope properly guide for contemporary guqin music practice.
