It is a common understanding that there are legal sentences and illegal sentences in a language. But more and more language scholars realize that there is a continuum from legal sentences to illegal sentences. Even in some conditions some illegal sentences can turn into legal sentences. Symmetry is an important condition among those conditions. But how many types of illegal sentences can turn into legal sentences under the symmetry condition? What is the reason that the symmetrical expression can turn the degree of legitimization? The dissertation finds "the spatial factor" is important to the degree of legitimization. The relationship between language and space is an important proposition all the time, which can be observed from two sides: how to express space in a language; how to organize language in a space. Until to now, the first side has been researched by many language scholars, but the second side is still rarely discussed. Because the language must be spread in some space and the language action must be practiced in some space, the organization of language symbol must be influenced by the language space. The symmetrical expression is also influenced by the language space. Because the word count, or syntax, or syllable of each unit in the symmetrical expression is similar, the symmetrical expression can form a close space—the symmetrical space. In the symmetrical space, there are seven spatial organization principles according to the gestalt theory, such as the similar principle, the gestalt principle, the simplified principle, the latent principle, and the gibbous principle, the exchangeable principle, the symmetrical principle .But the symmetry is not the only factor to change the degree of legitimization. there are four other factors such as time, boundary, rhythm, focus which can cause the illegal sentence acceptable. The dissertation discusses the changeable types of illegal sentences under the spatial factor: the legitimization of non-logical sentences, the legitimization of non-self-sufficient sentences, the legitimization of non-normal combination, the legitimization of non-normal word order, the legitimization of non-normal rhythm. Then the dissertation discusses the limitation of the symmetrical space. Chapter IV deals with the exchangeable types of information in the symmetrical expression under the exchangeable principle. Chapter V analyses the constructional meaning of the symmetrical expression under the similar principle and the gibbous principle. Chapter I ends with a summary of each chapter and some topics planned to explore in future.
