Study On The Cited Books In Liu Xiaobiao's Annotation Of Shishuo Xinyu

Predecessors have made a lot of talk on the value of the Liu Xiaobiao's Annotation. For example, Gao Sisun said that the citation of the Liu Xiaobiao's Annotation was very rich and exact, and it's has some subtleness that needn't be shown by words. In fact, Liu's Annotation had set up a method. Hu Yinglin pointed out that Pei Shiqi's and Liu's Annotation had cited many books and made great Contribution to history. What Pei and Liu had done is a very difficult task, if anyone could completed it just as what Pei and Liu had done , then he was successful. Siku Quanshu Zongmu thought that Liu Xiaobiao had corrected Liu Yiqing's mistakes in many places, and many books Liu's Annotation had cited were disappeared. Just like Pei's and Li Daoyuan's Annotation, Liu's Annotation was often cited by researchers. Lu Xun Also emphasized that because many books in Liu's Annotation didn't exist, so people become more and more valued it. Zhang Shunhui said that many people thought Liu's Annotation was the same important as Pei's and Li Daoyuan's Annotation, the major reason was that they all reserved many books. However, some standards and verifications in Liu's Annotation were much better than Pei's and Li Daoyuan's Annotation. So, the research on Liu's Annotation has important academic value.The research on Liu's Annotation involved not only literature, but also history, document, linguistics and so on. Nowadays, although there are many academic achievements on Liu's Annotation, they also have some deficiency that still need be done.In fact, the research on the books cited by Liu's Annotation includes two parts, part one is the bibliography and part two is the quotation. Many researchers didn't emphasize this question. Researchers didn't indicate the definition of the cited books exactly and they don't have the principle or criterion to name the cited books.There are different bibliographies in the studies of different researchers. The reason is that researchers had different judgment about the definition and had not a unified principle or criterion.Researchers didn't show the origin of the cited literatures, which was existed now, and they didn't compare the cited literatures in Liu's Annotation with the extant literature in ancient books completely. Even if there are a few comparisons, but they often ignore the difference between different editions.There are some quotations in Liu's Annotation that is not existed nowadays, and researchers didn't sum up the compiling quotations systemically.Just as we talked, the research on the books cited by Liu's Annotation includes two parts. Our issue is based on these two parts. Because there is some shortage in the research on Liu's Annotation, this dissertation has done a lot of work as follows: This dissertation investigated Liu's Annotation carefully. It finds out that the total number of the Liu's Annotation is 453. It includes Jing, Shi, Zi, Ji, Shijia and some undetectable books, and the number is 39, 305, 42, 47, 10 and 10 respectively.This dissertation reviewed the bibliography given by different researchers. It finds out that there are some questions in different bibliographies. The main reason is that the researchers didn't have an accordant and specific definition of the cited books. This dissertation gives the definition of the cited books and shapes the rules or criterions, and we can know how to name the cited books by it.This dissertation displays the bibliography of the books cited by Liu's Annotation. It finds out that there is a principle of differentiation in Liu's Annotation, but this principle of differentiation is done under the systematic viewpoint. However, many researchers ignored this problem.This dissertation examines the quotation in Liu's Annotation. It points out the origin of some quotations which are still existed, and sum up the compilation of some quotations which had disappeared. The quotation that we study only includes Jing, Zi, Ji, and the main method we use is comparison.It is a fact that there is some change of quotation in Liu's Annotation, and many researchers have got the same conclusion. But this dissertation finds several problems as follows:Generally speaking, researchers think the change is made by Liu's Annotation. But one fact is that Liu's Annotation holds some original content. However, this fact had never received the attention come from academic community.Liu's Annotation usually changed the quotation with a reasonable proof or foundation, but People didn't realize the fact.It finds out that some change come from the different editions. Many researchers neglected the dissimilarity between the different editions.Liu's Annotation is helpful to resolve some problems existed in academic community. Moreover, It also provides some evidence for a certain standpoint.Researchers have noticed or compiled the most of the quotations in Liu's Annotation which had disappeared, but some had been neglected or omitted. This dissertation thinks that Liu's Annotation still is valuable for the compiling.Liu's Annotation cites 453 kinds of books, and the number of the books of Shi is the most. This dissertation doesn't embody the books of Shi because of the capacity of the issue and the limited time. So, this dissertation only embodies the books of Jing, Zi, Ji, and the total number is 128.
