This article carry out the analysis, based on the appearance-description vocabulary in ShishuoXinyu. Shishuo Xinyu is the representative of Middle Chinese.Then,we except have acomprehensive display and analysis of appearance-description vocabulary in Shishuo Xinyu andMiddle Chinese.At the same time, make a useful exploration to the evolution of this kind ofvocabulary.The appearance-description vocabulary in Shishuo Xinyu can be divided into two majorcategories.The one is subject.The other one is t predicate.This article does an exhaustive statisticsanalysis on subject and predicate.In addition,we have an analysis of those vocabulary’ s semanticfield,including aggregation relationship and syntagmatic relationship.Moreover, this article alsocorrect some wrong notes in the visual appearance of vocabulary.Then,we make a new textualresearch of those vocabulary.It can also make correction to Chinese Dictionary.We have a comparison study through the appearance-description vocabulary in Zuo Zhuan,Jin Shu and Water Margin. We reveal the characteristic of each stage that the appearance-description vocabulary have developed. Zuo Zhuan belong to Ancient Chinese. Water Marginbelong to Present Chinese. From Zuo Zhuan to Water Margin, subject growed out of nothing andpredicate developed from few to many.They both have a process continually enriching anddeveloping. Beauty,for example,as a predicate,it have always showed strong vitality and activitysince Ancient Chinese. Predicate came out earlier than subject. Predicate can come alone,but onlyfew of subject can come alone.Besides,on one condition that with the structure “have+subject”,subject also can come alone. Predicate develop faster than subject.Although subject is in thecontinuous development,the number is small.It also has certain limitations.Subject can not catchup with predicate in the number and speed. From Ancient Chinese to Present Chinese,until ModernChinese,the form of combination between subject and predicate can not only be“subject+predicate”structure, also can be the structure of “predicate+subject”. The visualappearance-description vocabulary had some simple metaphors at first.Then those metaphors cameout in a large number.All in all, the development of the history and the social experienceaccumulation are helpful for the the development of Chinese.They provide the externalrepresentation and internal rational parable of heart metaphorical vocabulary to Chinese.
