Zi Di Shu is a form of folk drama which originated from soldiers and developedby Eight Banner aristocrats. It was very popular in North China from Qian Long erato Guang Xu era in Qing Dynasty. However, it gradually vanished after the setting upof National Republic of ChinaThe value of Zi Di Shu was recognized by Zhen Zhen Duo, who added 11 Zi DiShu literatures written by representative writers, Luo Songchuang and HanXiaochuang, into his World Literature Library. Zi Di Shu has been caring about sincethe new era. Qi Gong gave Zi Di Shu a very high appraisement in the 80's last century.He said: "The four poesy style literatures, Tang Shi, Song Ci, Yuan Qu, Ming ChuanQi, have been publicly recognized for long time and each becomes a specialrepresentative of its era. If one asks which literature in Qing Dynasty can competewith these 4 literatures mentioned above, my answer is Zi Di Shu."There are also a few scholars who devote themselves to the hackling of materialsrelated to Zi Di Shu, these works bring convenience to further study.As an artistic form popular for about 100 years in China, can we find Zi Di Shuagain? What is the fascination of Zi Di Shu? Which role did Zi Di Shu play duringthe process of national culture integration? And the most important is Hong LouMeng based Zi Di Shu.Those Hong Lou Meng based Zi Di Shu contain most artistic characteristic andfascination of Zi Di Shu. How did they recompose the contents of Hong Lou Meng?How did they set up a bridge between original work and the ordinary people?These are some of the questions the paper wants to answer.The dissertation includes 7 components. The first chapter is an introduction tothe research; The next chapter is about the contemporary situation of research onHong Lou Meng based Zi Di Shu; The third chapter is about the originating,developing and vanishing of Zi Di Shu; The fourth chapter is about Heng Lou Mengin Zi Di Shu (Research on the content of Zi Di Shu); The fifth chapter is about Lu LeiYuan and Qian Jin Quan De, magnum opuses of Han Xiaochuang; The sixth chapteris about Zi Di Shu's historic and cultural value; The seventh component is a summaryof the research; The eigth component is an appendix.There are two viewpoints about the origination of Zi Di Shu. One says Zi Di Shuis an anamorphosis of ancient telling and singing literature, Bian Wen; Another saysZi Di Shu is originated from Manchu sacrifice drama. The paper points out that bothof the viewpoints haven't grasped the real original nature of Zi Di Shu. The author finds out that Zi Di Shu's origination and prosperity has close relationship with EightBanner institution. Zi Di Shu was a production of military life, developed andeventually vanished with the dual Eight Banner institutional society. The paper alsoconcludes that Zi Di Shu played an important role during the disseminating process ofHong Lou Meng. First, the literators of Zi Di Shu usually had special family andeducation background and they were among those who firstly knew the original workof Hong Lou Meng; Second, the style of Zi Di Shu is suitable for short narrative withrich feeling. Actually it recomposed Hong Lou Meng into many short stories whichordinary people like to read and listen.The paper also discusses the family background and the work of famous Zi DiShu literator, Han Xiaochuang. Taking Lu Lei Yuan, which based on Hong Lou Meng,as an example, the paper points out the Xiao Chuang style Zi Di Shu is the best of all.The author believes that the artistic characteristic of Xiao Chuang style can besummarized as below: Radom words embody literary talent; Playing words embodycomplaining; Singing words embody the real of life. Although Zi Di Shu is apretty-pretty in hands of idle writers, it does have social demands, political demandsand ethic demands. This is discussed in the section of Influence Between Quan De Ji,Hong Lou Meng and Qian Jin Quan De.The paper also concludes that Zi Di Shu's artistic fascination demonstrates thecharacteristic of national culture integration.
