This dissertation practices a junior research on Wang Baoxin's work:GuwenciTongyi.In the Preface,there is a brief introduction of historical development ofChinese ancient prose talks,and also a general pectination is held.The dissertationtries to place Guwenci Tongyi under the literatural zeitgeist of that time,and find outthe historic factor for which Guwenci Tongyi has been ignored,so as to causeattention from researchers of Chinese ancient prose.This dissertation is divided into exterior research and interior research ofGuwenci Tongyi,while the exterior research is divided into four chapters:The first chapter gives a brief verification of Wang Baoxin's living.Throughdocuments-collecting,it finds out the concrete date when Wang Baoxin was bornand dead,and also gives a brief discription of his moral character and achievementand study fruit.The second chapter gives a research on Guwenci Tongyi's editions,and how itwas being created.The third chapter gives an analysis on the feature of GuwenciTongyi.It concludes that the book is good at collecting others' elite and digestingthem.With wide quotation and well digestion,the book is nearly a collection ofChinese ancient prose talks.Based on the periodical and cultural background when Wang Baoxin was living,the fourth chapter concludes three purposes of creating Guwenci Tongyi,which are:preserving classical documents,searching for writing methods and renaissancingancient prose.The interior research,which gives an exploration of Wang Baoxin's theory ofprose,is diveded into two chapters:the fifth chapter and the sixth chapter. The fifth chapter analyses Wang Baoxin's theroy of prose,through which wecan see its substantive contribute to the summary of ancient prose study.The sixth chapter summarizes the two patterns by which Wang Baoxinconstructs a history of Chinese ancient literature.Besides the text,two passages are appendixed,which are:Wang Baoxin'sTimelines and A Table of Contents of Wang Baoxin's Works.
