From the mid 1980s to the end of the 1990s was a time that the Uighur new-tide novels had been initiated, prospered and gained greater artistic achievements. Driven by the self-development demand of Uighur literature and the influence of world's developed literary schools, the new-tide novels which were different from the Uighur realistic novels began to appear in the mid of the 1980s, as a literary phenomenon.This dissertation tries to study the Uighur new- tide novels more systematically and from multi-angles. It strives to approach the new- tide novel's overall developing process, study the social, historical and cultural contexts of the new- tide novels'emergence, the trend of theme, narrative skills and artistic expression techniques of the Uighur new- tide novels.The dissertation is composed of six chapters. In introduction part, the current research situation of the theme is introduced. Meanwhile, this part also contains the problems this dissertation wants to solve and significance of this dissertation.Chapter One mainly conducts researches on the following problems: Firstly, it sets forth the characteristics of the new- tide novels that are different from the Uighur realistic novels. Secondly, it describes the social, historical and cultural contexts of the new- tide novels'emergence .Thirdly, it studies the new- tide novels'developing situation and the features of representative writers'works in each developing stage. In the meanwhile, points out different forms of the new- tide novels. Finally, it discusses concisely the causes of disappearance of the new- tide novels.Chapter Two focuses on the trends of theme, such as alienation, desire and mental abnormality. At first, it analyzes the alienation narration of new-tide texts. At the same time, it describes and assesses desire narration of Muhemmed Bagrash and HusainTash's works according to the theory of psychoanalysis. Finally, it discusses mental abnormality narration of Parhat Tursun's works by using Freud's theory about the mental illness and points out three faults of his works.Chapter Three studies about the narrative art of the new-tide novels. First of all, with specific examples from new-tide texts, it illustrates the new-tide novelists'time handlingskills, such as time intersection, ellipsis and disorder. Then it explains the unique characteristics of new-tide texts from the utilization of narrative perspective. Lastly,it carries on researches the main narrative pattern of the new- tide novels.Chapter Four the author discusses the artistic expression techniques such as stream of consciousness, grotesque, mystique and magic, symbol etc. which are commonly used in new-tide novels.The last part of the dissertation is the conclusion in which the author makes a summary of personal view points on the base of previous parts.
