This paper makes a study of comments on Ci poems in Zhang Yan's Ci Yuan and its influence on Jin, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties and modern times. It consists of three chapters. Chapter one gives an outline of the main editions of Ci Yuan handed down so as to reveal its general clue in the history. Based on the spreading history, it arrives at extant Ci Yuan's editions system. In the meantime, it makes clear Ci Yuan's author, title, volume quantity and ending time according to the research materials. Chapter two makes an analysis of the comments on Ci Yuan in latter part of Ci Yuan and discloses its theoretical background: that is, the late Song dynasty undergoes the waning of Ci poems'rhythm and refining of their ways of expressing emotions. In addition, the paper discusses thoroughly and systematically the criticized subjects, styles, essences, characters and so on, and concludes that Ci Yuan doesn't conceive of Jiang Baishi as the only standard, but set different types of standards. Concerning the content, it compares gross criticism of the history of comments on Ci poems from the typical Ci poets among more that twenty Ci poets to the main points of criticism in itself so as to explore Ci Yuan's critical perspective towards former Ci poets. Finally, it draws the conclusion that although the criticism then is not systematic and integral in style, it makes certain breakthrough in the history of comments on Ci poems. Chapter three examines Ci Yuan's influence at that time and later time and presents that Ci Yuan has little influence in Jin and Yuan dynasties, almost no influence in Ming dynasty, but is highly praised by Zhexi Ci group in Qing dynasty. What's more, it makes a comparison of different attitudes towards Jiang Kui and Zhang Yan and concludes that Zhexi Ci group holds Jiang Kui in esteem not mentioning Zhang Yan. At the same time, it gives a brief analysis of Changzhou Ci group's attitude towards Ci Yuan. In the end, it sums up Ci Yuan's influence in modern times mainly on accepting the comments of Ci poems.
