This dissertation is based on the corpus compiled by the author from Indonesia. It covers 464.788 words while using for reference from Contrast Analysis, Error Analysis and Interlanguage theory, and combining quantitative analysis and qualitative analysis as well. Besides, from the aspects of word form, phonetics, semantic meaning, and parts of speech, this research is designated to focus on the situation of the Confusable Words of Indonesian students in the un-target language environment in order to explore the main factors which produce confusion to the students. We try to break through the current situation which overemphasizes the description of the research subject, strive to give a comprehensive, systematical and corresponding review on interlanguage vocabulary study.The dissertation is divided into six parts :1. The first part is the introduction. The main purpose is to introduce the reason of the subject selected, the related research summary, the research methods, and the research target.2. The second part is aiming at discussing the determination and the situation of the confusable words. According to the source of the corpus, the corpus provider's background, eventually the author selects 346 pairs of confusable words as his research object.3. The writer focuses on the confusing condition and motivations of confusable words caused by the same or similar morphology. 4. In addition, the author discusses the confusing condition and motivations of confusable words caused by the same or similar pronunciation.5. Furthermore, the author describes the semantic confusion appeared in the Indonesian-Chinese interlanguage corpus and gives analysis on their confusion causes.6. Finally, he focuses on confusing words which belong to different parts of speech. The research initiates the study of Confusable words easily made by the students from a specified country in learning Chinese language.It is noted that the confusable words made by the Indonesian students have distinctive characteristics. They are seriously affected by the transferring from their native tongue to other languages. Thus, in Chinese Interlanguage vocabulary study, the first prerequisite is to distinguish the learners' language background. The author hopes this dissertation would provide with some reference for those who are interested in the vocabulary teaching to Indonesian students, and he also expects to give some suggestions to those with some other language backgrounds than Indonesian.
