Gan Lu incident occurred in the ninth year of Dahe in the Tang dynasty. This event had an important impact on the politics and literature of the late Tang dynasty. This paper tries to have a full discussion of this incident.This paper are divided into two parts. The former part consists of five parts'in which discusses the political situation before and after the ninth year of Dahe, which includes the cause and effect, the entire process of the event itself. Chapter one dicusses the overall position of the eunuch group, take Wang Shoucheng as the object of study. Chapter two analysis the Song Shenxi event happened in the fifth year of Dahe. Chapter three investigates the course of events. Chapter four analysis the role of the emperor Tang Wenzong in the event. Chapter five explores the counter-insurgency war occurred in the third year of Huichang, and then discusses the role of the local authorities in the event.In the later part I selected several representative literators who had lived through the tragedy. Includes Bai Juyi,Liu Yuxi,Zhang Hu,Du Mu,Li Shangyin,etc. In those chapters I analysis their views on the political tragedy, and the changes of their mentality and how their official career and their writing style affected by the political tragedy. Thus the effect of this event can be find out accordingly.
