This article is based on cultural research and aimed at study on China-US relations. Unlike the general sense of "culture","culture"is of different meaning in international study. The culture has namely the macroscopic level meaning, which is called systematic culture, and micro level meaning, which is called individual culture. From the contents, the article sees culture as customs, preferences, traditions of social sense, and sees culture as ideology, values of political content. No matter which is systematic culture or individual culture, social or political content, the culture has influence on the China-US relations. The effect can be shown through the different world views (or outlook on world), self views, views on the other of the two countries.The individual cultures of China and the US have differences, which are embodied by distinction, tolerance, pragmatic degrees. The differences of the two cultures result in China-US structural contradiction. These contradictions are reflected in the political, economic and security policy of the two countries. Through the analysis of the paths that culture goes through to influence on agents, it could be found that the culture makes the influence by constructing national interests. In constructing process, the cultures of China and the US have both the difference and similarities, among which there is pragmatism. The similarities can let the interests of China and the US overlap, which lays the foundation for China and the US to cooperate.The cultures of China the US has similar points and constructs common interests by interaction, which promotes cooperation between the two countries. Achievements made by cooperation then can play influences on the systemic culture. And the systematic culture furthermore has influence on the individual cultures. If interaction goes well, this process will be positive circulation process, thus promoting culture to construct more common interests for cooperation, and to provide more stable momentum for cooperation between China and the US.This paper chose china-us military-military relations, Asia-pacific interactions, maritime security and climate change as cases to study. Among them, military-military relations, Asia-pacific interactions more reflect the role played by cultural similarities of pragmatic approaches while they construct common interests. Maritime security problem reflects the fact that if China and the US have enormous differences in a particular field, the interaction would be very difficult and the systematic culture be influenced negatively. Climate change issues more shows expectations on favorable interaction between China and the US individual cultures, because this field has begun to show the possibilities of making a better systematic culture by the interaction between China and the US.The conclusion: Even there are large differences between the individual cultures of China and the US, it can be possible to construct common interests and promote cooperation between China and the US, if similar points of both sides could be found. And finally the cooperation between China and the US will be favorable for positive development of the systematic culture.
