The Communist Party of Canada was founded on May 28,1921. It is a Marxist-Leninist party with long revolutionary tradition, and so far it has gone through 91 eventful years. During the long-term revolutionary struggle, the Communist Party of Canada has repeatedly been the opposition and persecution of the ruling class, but it has been always firmly defending Marxism-Leninism, adhering to basic principles of the proletarian party, holding the banner of peace, democracy, sovereignty and socialism, making unremitting efforts and arduous exploration for the realization of socialism in Canada at last.Guided by Marxism, with theory development and program adjustments as the main line, this paper studies comprehensively and systematicly on the exploration to socialism by the Communist Party of Canada. This paper consists of six parts:introduction, the establishment and early political activities of the Communist Party of Canada, the difficult situation and valuable exploration of the Communist Party of Canada during the Cold War, analysises on the new historical conditions after the Drastic Change, theories and path selection toward socialism of the Communist Party of Canada in the new era, the difficulties, opportunities and the prospect of the Communist Party of Canada in the future. The main contents of this paper are as follows:The introduction illustrates the reason and significance for selecting such a research subject, the current research state of this subject, the way of thinking and methods used in the study, the innovation and defects of the dissertation.The first part mainly studys and analyzes the establishment and early political activities of the Communist Party of Canada. According to historical circumstances which of the Communist Party of Canada was facing and the main tasks during different historical periods, the early development course of the Communist Party of Canada is divided into three stages:the establishment of the Communist Party of Canada, organization and leadership of the Communist Party of Canada to the workers'movement in early period, main political activities during the Second World War. On the whole, the developmental course of the Communist Party of Canada in this period was full of tortuosity, crisis and setback, but it had grown gradually in the fiercely and ruthlessly political struggle.The second part described the difficult situation and valuable exploration of the Communist Party of Canada during the Cold War. This section firstly elaborated the difficult situation faced by the Communist Party of Canada, then it analyzed the exploration to the socialist road of the Communist Party of Canada in the early stage of the Cold War, theoretical reflection on the twentieth convention of the Soviet Union by the Communist Party of Canada, new developments of the exploration to the road of socialism in the late period of the Cold War by the Communist Party of Canada. For this reason, the contents in this section include of the program of the independence of Canada and people' Parliament- Canada's road to socialism which was passed through in 1954, reflections on the socialist revolutionary road in Russia, the party building principles and methods of work, etc.The third part describes the analysis of the new historical conditions after the Drastic Change by the Communist Party of Canada. This section is mainly about the analysis of the great achievements of the Soviet Union socialist construction and the causes of Drastic Change, the new changes in contemporary capitalism and the understanding of the financial crisis, the specific national conditions of Canada by the Communist Party of Canada. The understanding on these questions is the fundamental basis of the theoretical and policy adjustment in the new historical conditions after the Drastic Change.The fourth part mainly expounds the theory and path selection toward socialism that the Communist Party of Canada held after the Drastic Change, in particular, in the new century. It mainly includes the following five aspects:Firstly, the principle and the basic program of the future socialist society. Secondly, it mainly discusses characters and main tasks of revolutionary in Canada. Thirdly, basic ways of peaceful transition to socialism, it mainly discusses theories of establishing a people' government and developing a people'program which were put forward by the Communist Party of Canada. Fourth, enhance effectively the political and social influence of the Communist Party of Canada, it includs:learning lessons and clarifying the direction of development; strengthening the party's theoretical training and maintain advanced ideas; strengthening the building of party organizations and promoting the effectiveness of the work; strengthening the party's ideological propaganda and expanding the party's influence. Fifth, the basic strategy of achieving socialism, it includes the main configuration of class revolutionary forces at the present stage, strenghtening working class consciousness and organization, building a wide range of forces.The fifth part is to analyze the main challenges, opportunities and prospects which the Communist Party of Canada will be confronted with in the future. The Communist Party of Canada will face up with difficulties and challenges in the future because that the trade unions in Canada is in the control of American labor unions, that Canada's working class is alienated to the Communist Party, that Canada's Parliament and political system is not advantage to the Communist Party of Canada, and that the communist movement in developed countries will remain at a low ebb in long-term; However, the trade union movement in Canada shows an increasingly strong independent tendency to get rid of trade union control of the United States; Canada's two national political parties is uneven in power and influence in different provinces; the Communist Party of Canada is good at theoretical thinking and practice innovation, these all provides a good opportunity and important foundation for development of the Communist Party of Canada in the future. The socialist movement of the Communist Party of Canada is far from completion and maturity in theory and practice, but as an important social movement in developed countries, the exploration to socialism of the Communist Party of Canada will exist accompanied by critics to capitalism.
