Under the theme of developing momentum of socialism, this thesis discusses in depth the emergency and historical changes of the theory. And through comparing the actual development of socialism and capitalism, especially the different developing momentums of the two, this thesis suggests five major factors mobilizing socialism forward, which are science and technology, material interests, spiritual civilization, social conflict, and system reform, and analyzes and studies them in detail. Containing about 160,000 Chinese characters, this thesis is put forward in five chapters. The first chapter reviews the historical development of the theory on developing momentum of socialism, and makes it clear that the theory is not a sheer fabrication, but based on the research results of many outstanding brains on the human history. With a comprehensive method, it discusses important influences on the theory in various important historical periods of the West. It states that it is Max and E:ngles who realized a revolutionary transformation of the theory on the ideological history of mankind, but it is Lenin. Stalin, Mao Zedong. Deng Xiaoping and Jian Zeming who eventually has established a complete and systematic theory on the developing momentum of socialism. The second chapter analyzes science and technology ?the developing factor of socialism. Ever since the World War 2, science and technology has progressed in amazingly giant strides, affecting and actually changing every aspect of human life. It is under this circumstance that Deng Xiaoping called science and technology the "prime" force of productivity. The third chapter analyzes another developing factor of socialism -material interests, which has long been neglected by ideologists, but has imposed an ever greater influence on Chinese since the country adopted and developed a socialist market economic system. This chapter demonstrates that material interests not only has co-existed with human society for all time, but also has become a realistic factor deciding people's behavior in today's Chinese society. Recognizing material interests as a "historical lever" promoting forward socialism, the author suggests ideal ways to deal with material interests. As for spiritual civilization, the fourth chapter defines it as the great spiritual momentum guaranteeing the consistent development of socialism. Dividing the construction of spiritual civilization into the construction of moralsand of science and culture, the author explains in detail how a well-established spiritual civilization will safeguard, as well as promote, socialist material construction. The fifth chapter is devoted to the "fundamental" developing factor of socialism-social conflicts. In this chapter, the author summarizes the characteristics of social conflicts into "of multi-levels", "being dynamic", "being inter-depending", and "being systematic". Principles of handling these conflicts have also been suggested. The last chapter calls "system reform" the "direct" developing force of socialism. Because reform is the demand of socialist society, which is "full of frequent changes and reforms". Only through reform, called "the second revolution" by the author, can the socialist society find way to further liberate its productive forces and to march into a brighter tomorrow. Moreover, only reforms sticking to a socialist direction can lead socialism to eventually beat capitalism.
