With China's joining of the WTO, our weak agriculture is firstly confronted with the impact. Under the background of the international economy concentration, China's economy tendency will be decided by how to insure the steady transition of peasants' occupation, how to solve more and more employment questions of agricultural people, in order to advance the course of urbanization. So it's necessary to research the transformation of institutions of urbanization on the basis of new institutions economics theory. The dissertation consists of nine chapters. In the first chapter, it introduces its background and significance. On the basis of reviewing the researches in abroad and domestic of urbanization, some important concepts are defined, and the formation of institutions urbanization is emphatically analyzed. The second chapter is the theory foundation of the dissertation. Many theories such as double economic structure theory, zone development theory, and new institutions economics theory are expatiated in this part, so as to provide an academic frame for this research. In the third chapter, the dissertation approaches two types of the transformation of institutions of urbanization. Not only the process of this transformation is reviewed, but also the compulsory one and market-guidance one are discussed. At the same time, the performances of these two types are estimated by some targets such as population centralization, transfer amount of population and so on. At last, these two types are compared with each other. In the fourth and fifth chapters, two modes of the transformation of institutions of urbanization - the small-towns-dominating one and the astride-zones-flowing one are studied. Firstly, in the fourth chapter, the functions of small towns in urbanization are expounded, and some models in small-towns-dominating system innovation are concluded, many suggestions about how to avoid some problems in this system innovation are raised, too. Then in the fifth chapter, the process of formation, the tendency of innovation, and the inward mechanism of astride-zones-flowing system innovations are analyzed, meanwhile, the case of migratory population concentrating-residence in shipai town in Guangzhou city is dissected. In the sixth chapter, the dissertation compares the regional differences in thetransformation of institutions of urbanization according to kinds of targets. Then the direction and principles of the system innovation of urbanization are approached. Lastly, many ideals are suggested: advance the demand-inducements transformation of institutions by the transition of the middle-diffusing type of transformation institutions; advance the combination of urbanization, industrialization, and knowledge development, improving the diathesis of the peasants and their offspring, so as to insure peasants to find jobs in the adjusting of the economic structure; advance the...
